Dr Preetha Agarwal, MD

Preetha Kamath Agarwal, MD, FAAD, FACMS is a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, where she also serves as Associate Program Director of the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (MSDO) Fellowship. Dr. Agarwal specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology, bringing advanced expertise in skin cancer treatment to her patients and trainees.

Dr. Agarwal graduated from the combined BS-MD Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami (UMMSM). She concomitantly completed a dedicated Medical Education fellowship and Dermatology Research Fellowship at UMMSM. She completed residency training at both UPMC and Mercer University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in MSDO at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she honed her surgical skills and expertise in complex skin cancer cases.

To …date, Dr. Agarwal has spoken at several regional and national conferences with over 50 peer-reviewed articles, oral presentations, and poster presentations on topics including skin cancer, procedural dermatology, and leadership in academic medicine. She is the editor of the textbook Dermatology Fundamentals, which is designed to provide a strong, practical foundation in dermatology for medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals.

Dr. Agarwal is actively involved in dermatologic education and outreach. She serves as an American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Social Media Correspondent, helping to disseminate important dermatologic knowledge through digital platforms. She is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the Women's Dermatologic Society, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and American College of Mohs Surgery. Furthermore, Dr. Agarwal is a mother, navigating the joys of motherhood and a busy career in medicine.
