Dr. Premalatha Nandkumar, MD

Dr NandKumar is very caring and competent. But her office staff is awful and rude to say the least.

She has always listened to and addressed my concerns. She doesn't do unnecessary tests or lab work since I've been seeing her. She does explain why tests are needed, and why she's going with the treatment course. Wonderful doctor. Her office staff is pretty awful unfortunately, except Denise. Denise is the only one that is understanding and very helpful.

I've been seen by Dr. Nandkumar for over 20 years. She is the most caring and thorough doctor I have ever seen. She takes her time and never makes you feel rushed during your appointment- addressing any problems or concerns you may have.

I have been seeing Nandkumar for two years and have never had a complaint until now. Recently, I referred my mother, who is approaching mid 60's, to her in regards to general health concerns. Nandkumar prescribed a blood pressure medication for her that resulted in a violent coughing side effect. This was not the issue, but the delay and rudeness in response was. It took three days and repeated phone calls before my mother was finally tended to (by the receptionist, not the doctor herself.) I wanted to give Nandkumar the benefit of the doubt, given her hectic schedule and the sometimes debatable competency of the interning receptionists. However, days later on this new medication, my mother is STILL experiencing questionable side effects and she STILL has not heard back from the office. This is extremely concerning for obvious reasons. I refrained earlier from posting a negative review against a trusty doctor, but after the second time of not hearing back, I find this only… appropriate.

This Dr. is a very caring person, but unfortunately, does not follow medical protocol followed by most doctors. My Mom saw her for a little over a year and in that time this Dr. never ordered any type of blood tests, weighed her only once (because as you will find - one of their rooms has a scale that has been broken for who only knows how long.) Never ordered a chest x-ray despite a history of smoking, pooh-poohed a referral to a pulmonologist despite my Mom having emphysema, and in general only provided a minimum of care with little regard to going above the minimum in order to provide my Mom with a higher quality of life despite her health challenges. At the end of my Mom's relationship with this Dr., I left a message for the Dr. which took her five days to return (despite my calling back every day.) When I asked why it had taken so long to call back and why the Dr. didn't think that my Mom needed any additional treatment for her lung issues, the Dr. said "What's the point?" I… think if it were her mother she was treating she would understand what the "point" is - its about ensuring a proper quality of life for all of your patients - no matter their age. As an aside - this same Dr. diagnosed my friend's husband as having a nervous tremor. Luckily my friend pursued the issue with another Dr. - it was Parkinson's disease. If you want a kind person, this Dr. is fine. If you want a competent AND kind Dr. you should probably look elsewhere.

Most compassionate, humane, service oriented doctor. Always her patients come first. Her long hours and dedication can never be second guessed. The wait times at her office are only because of the time and care she gives her patients. Achieves maximum results by doing only what is absolutely necessary.
