Dr. Priya Mathew, OD

Dr. Priya Mathew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), and received her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with honors in her clinical rotations. Dr. Mathew gained extensive experience diagnosing and treating eye diseases during her rotations which extended to various specialties and types of practices including Eye Centers of South Florida in Miami, Florida, Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons, New Jersey, Contact Lens Associates in College Park, Maryland, Thomas Retinal Eye Specialists in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and the Low Vision Clinic at The Eye Institute of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After graduation, Dr. Mathew joined Your Eye Associates, a four-location private practice in the surrounding Philadelphia area, and practiced there for over 3 years. During this time, Dr. Mathew gained valuable experience in primary care optometry while treating and managing a wide range of ages …and ocular diseases and contact lens fittings. While at Your Eye Associates, Dr. thew specialized in seeing pediatric patients with Binocular vision needs.
Upon relocating to Houston from the East Coast, Dr. Mathew joined Alkek Eye Center at the Baylor College of Medicine as a primary care optometrist. For over two years she extensively co-managed and triaged ocular disease and pathology with the ophthalmologists within the practice.
Dr. Mathew is a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. She practices full-scope optometry including the detection of ocular conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, and systemically derived ocular diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Mathew specializes in complete family eye care, focusing on routine vision examinations, pediatric examinations, soft contact lens examinations, therapeutic interventions, and pre/post-operative management of cataracts and refractive surgery.
