Dr. Prosper Benhaim, MD

I have been irreparably harmed by this man. I will be crippled for the rest of my life because of his poor care. He performed four (!) failed surgeries on me. I had trust in the UCLA system so I did not question his care. But, after three failed surgeries, I sought a second opinion. After on visit, the other hand surgeon whom I saw found a huge issue that he completely missed. I am crippled for the rest of my life. I have PTSD, as diagnosed by psychiatrist, because of the pain I experienced. He said himself that he sees 50 to 60 patients per day in clinic. That means that he is only spending maybe 10 minutes reviewing patient charts, imaging and speaking with patients. Because I can no longer work, I will do everything I can to help spread the word of my hugely negative experience.

Dr Benhaim, orthopedic surgeon, cares more about his business (read $$$) than the well being of his patients.

Right hand index finger surgery - one month and a half later 7 weeks after the surgery I cannot slip my hand into my pants' pocket without fear of the extreme sensitivity of the skin… Re-educating my right hand after weeks of impairment by the surgery. Still pain if I touch something hard. The surgery, probably un-necessary and probably poorly executed, had a huge toll on my emotions, lots of suffering because of pain, fear and inability to do nearly anything (I’m a photographer and a class handyman), not to mention anger. Probably Dr Benhaim didn’t know I’m a photographer because he didn’t asked, so he didn’t discuss with me the overwelming consequences of this surgery on my everyday life and my economy.

THE WORST!!!!!

He was very personable when suggesting surgery but, after the surgery left me with worse problems than I had when I went in, he lost his "bedside manner" and clearly wasn't interested in talking about it. His poor staff has to deal with patients constantly who are waiting literally hours for their appointment. Considering that, the staff is wonderful.

And still no response. I had surgery scheduled for Friday but will cancel it now!

Dr. Benhaim is an excellent, kind, smart, compassionate, efficient, skilled surgeon. He fixed my left pointer finger quickly. I am so grateful.... Excellent bed-side manner. We are lucky to have such great doctors like him at UCLA.

I had read bad reviews about his staff, rude, never calling back and bunches of other stuff . I found just the opposite. Everyone was great, every phone call was returned in the appropriate amount of time. It was a wonderful experience . On top of all that- in case I forgot to mention- the Doctor was the BEST!! He was the only Doctor that would take on this complicated surgery. Thank God for Benhaim!

I agree with the above reviews. When I have an appt it takes couple of hours waiting just to get walk in to the waiting room , there is an other hour of waiting to see the dr . The dr said therapy after surgery but it doesn't mention unless you asks how long and often . I had recently schedule a surgery, I live 500 miles away. I have to take a plane. I am disabled and having all the money I spent to get to Los Angeles and have Dr Benhaim cancelled my surgery an hour before the surgery was schedule and was not merely reschedule for later that day or next, but weeks later. So unprofessional . Now I can't afford an other trip to LA to get my needed surgery done . Hope such a great surgeon and his stuff gives better service to the patient .
