Dr. Prudencio Sayson Balagtas JR., DO

After receiving a referral from my PCP, it took 3 months to get in to see him. I dutifully completed the many pages of forms sent to me & brought to my appointment. I handed him my CD’s of my past tests and he asked me why was i giving him these and i told him I was complying with the directions given to me. He said I don’t need any of this- I can see everything I need on my computer. I was here to see him for the excruciating pain I have in my neck. The appointment was extremely short. He was supercilious, dismissive and completely ageist. He mentioned “at your age” several times. My expectations were not met by any means whatsoever. He gave zero advice regarding my pain management. I was referred to him as he is supposedly a pain management specialist. This was an utter waste of my time. I do not drive and had to pay for my transportation to and from this unsatisfactory appointment. Be advised- if you are looking for a medical specialist who cares about the care of his… patients, this doctor is NOT the right one for you.

I would never return to this doctor again. After waiting 6 weeks for an appointment, I arrived 30 mins early, as they had requested, with my paperwork complete. It was an hour later that I was called back for my appointment. The front desk and MA were all very friendly, this was the only highlight of my visit. I was prepared for my visit with questions and had done a lot of research so as not to waste the D.O.'s time. It ended up being a total waste of mine. He was condescending, possesses no bedside manner, was unable to answer some of my questions and concerns, rushed through my "testing" and the general appointment, and could barely make eye contact during my visit, as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed most of the time. He disregarded my MRI and its formal report, stating "you are not a surgical candidate". I was obviously of no interest to him after this. What is most concerning to me, is that he seemed to lack any sort of empathy for my pain. I told him it was… constant, sometimes excruciating, and has made it impossible for me to work or complete a lot of my daily activities. He expressed no sympathy for this, and offered no solutions. I will not be returning, and I would dissuade any of my loved ones from making an appointment with him.

It took over a month to be seen at this facility that was referred to me by my PCP. I was in so much pain. On a scale of 1 to 10, my pain was off the chart. It hurt to sit, stand, and/or lay down. So almost 5 weeks of waiting seemed like an eternity. The day I go in, I'm greeted by their rude staff at the front desk. Finally, after waiting in their waiting room for almost an hour, I'm called to the back. I was seen by Dr. Balagtas Jr. What a joke he turned out to be. He displayed very little care or concern. He spent about 10 minutes with me and couldn't even answer my questions. He also seemed condescending. What a disappointing experience over all. Still in pain. So sad.

Said I was not candidate for micro lumbar surgery and he was wrong. Had surgery and it was successful. Has poor judgement and was dismissive and condescending.
