Dr. Purushottam Mitra, MD

Arrogant, not personal, very poor bedside manner, left mad due to the way I was treated. Would not listen to me or answer my questions or explain anything.

â??Spends more time dictating notes to computer making you feel humiliated rather then speaking to you. Office staff quotes you one price you pay in full. Two weeks later you get a bill asking for more money.

This office has the most unprofessional office staff I have ever encountered in my entire life. Doctor does not call patient back also. Nor does nurse or anyone in the office.

Great doctor.Very thorough ,listened to my issues .He makes a plan of attack and handles things very professional.I had Other lung doctors in the past that just run tests and two seconds there gone. I like this guy,feel lucky to have him as my lung doctor.However,on a negative note the billing girls didn't know the billing codes numbers to places they where supposed to call ,it was like it was everyone's first day.otherwise,great doctor!

In all of my years of practicing critical care medicine in my home town, I have rarely encountered such an arrogant and unprofessional doctor as Purushottam Mitra. Today, my family and I had a scare with my grandmother who is in Ocala Regional Medical Center. Her oxygen was left off her while the nurses gave her too much pain medication and she was found unresponsive. He was consulted and when he got to the bedside, he barely talked to us and dismissed all of our questions and concerns. He was arrogant, rude, and uncompassionate. He should be ashamed of himself for how he behaved. We have since contacted administration and had him fired from our grandmothers case. This man should remember the oath he took and practice with some compassion and integrity.

He is one of the best doctors that I have been to . He knows exactly what he is talking about and doesn't order tests that are not needed. He does run a little behind but what doctor doesn't. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff is very nice as well, I love the office manager Carol. She can help you if you need anything. Overall a great practice.

If you need a doctor who is going to tell you the truth when it comes to your diagnosis, He is the man to see. He does not bother with unnecessary testing. He has been my doctor for many years and I would not switch for any reason.

Dr. Mitra is the most unprofessional Doctor that I have ever met! He came into the room on his cell phone during my appointment! He didn't even listen to me when I was trying to explain to him what was wrong. I am a very educated individual and I personally work in healthcare. He literally held a conversation with someone else on the phone the entire time I was seeing him. He then started to discuss my case and I had to stop him because he was violating HIPAA by talking about my personal health information wtih someone else listening in that I did NOT authorize to have it! I would never recommend him to anyone, I mean it. Please trust that I work with Doctor's all day everyday and have never been so insulted in my life. His staff then promised to reimburse me my $35 copay which never came. After calling his office to see where the check was, the staff had no answer for me as Dr. Mitra had refused to refund me for the visit. I did not receive a single minute of personal attention and/or… advice about my pain, I never got a prescription, and all he kept saying was that my pain was all in my head and that I needed to see a phychiatrist, which even if I would have believed him and wanted to do, I never received a referral! Since this visit I have seen another physician in Gainesville and have been diagnosed with Lupus. Thanks a lot Dr. Mitra! Whos head is it in now? Please save yourself the time and the trouble and go somewhere else! Thank you.
