Quan Nhu, MD, PhD

Quan M. Nhu, MD, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in diseases of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Dr. Nhu has a strong clinical interest in inflammatory GI disorders, specifically eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), an inflammatory condition of the esophagus, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. His clinical interests also include other eosinophilic GI disorders (EGID's) such as eosinophilic gastritis, eosinophilic enteritis and eosinophilic colitis, microscopic colitis including lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis, celiac disease and colon cancer prevention. As a gastroenterologist and physician-scientist, with advanced training in immunology and immunopathology, Dr. Nhu has had the opportunity to care for his patients from the viewpoints both as a clinician and as an immunologist. Dr. Nhu's clinical care has been recognized by the Charles & Virginia Feld Award for Humanism in Medicine. Dr. Nhu is dually appointed as …faculty at Scripps Research, where he currently holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Molecular Medicine. Dr. Nhu's translational research is driven by the clinical needs of his patients and centers on understanding the mechanisms of inflammation and tissue remodeling and fibrosis in EoE and developing novel, clinically relevant therapeutic agents for EoE and beyond. Dr. Nhu's research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease Researchers (CEGIR) and by Scripps Clinic and Scripps Foundation. Dr. Nhu's research has been recognized by the Ruben F. Gittes MD Department of Medicine Chairman's Excellence in Research Awards and the American College of Gastroenterology Gender-based Research Award.
