I have a unique situation, with huge bunions complicated by a rare genetic bone disorder. Dr. Parker did his research, I did not have to educate him on my disorder. He was very knowledgeable when looking at my x-rays. He recommended one specific type of surgery and told me other treatments would fail. However, he never actually looked at my feet, only my x-rays. My range of motion is already very limited, he did not discuss with me how this type of surgery would further limit my foot's mobility. I had to do the research to learn of those side effects of surgery. Now, we only had one appointment, and he was not pushy about getting the surgery done right away or anything. So surgery was his expert opinion and I did not feel like he was pushing it on me. I would have liked to discuss other options, though, as I wonder if surgery is actually my only option (or just my best option).
