Dr. Raafat Zikry Abdelmisih, MD

Apparently a good surgeon, no infection yet, but poor communication skills. I was told he would contact me after the procedure AND that the hospital would call me at home. Two months now and no phone call from either. He did schedule, without my input, a follow up appointment in his office one month after which lasted all of four minutes. He apparently doesn't have the time to talk to the patient and/or family following the procedure because he has other surgeries lined up and waiting in other OR's. His own little assembly line to collect insurance money. His number one concern seems to be your insurance card.

Had a colonoscopy, EGD, and hernia repair by Dr. A-M, all within a single week. I like his manner and the surgeries seemed to go well. The one place his office can improve is in the post-op appointment. He found an undesireable bacteria in my stomach. Never explained what, but my guess is H. Pylori, the bacterium that causes ulcers. Put me on a 14-day regimen during which I had to take 2 antibiotic pills twice a day. I was not told how badly these would probably make me feel, despite also taking Prevacid with them. Appetite disappeared, stomach was often "pre-nauseous", and I lost 7lbs. in the 2 weeks. My subsequent research on this (which, shame on me, I should have done BEFORE starting the antibiotics) indicates that 80% of the population has this in their stomach and have no symptoms. I have never had symptoms and never had an ulcer. The web pages I visited said that if no symptoms/no ulcers, not worth doing anything about it.

Dr. Misih saved my life. I am so thankful to him, so is my husband and my 3 year old. He cares for his patients, excellent bedside manner, very nice and polite to talk to and above all, a very skilled surgeon. I am thankful that he was my surgeon.
