Dr. Rachel L. Amdur, MD

I've been going to Dr. Amdur for a couple of years for routine check-ups. She's thoughtful and spends a great deal of time answering my questions. She's an excellent doctor.

Polite, thorough, seems to really care about my health. I like this doctor and I have seem A LOT of doctors.

I was a patient of Dr. Amdur several years ago but had to stop going to her because the company I worked for changed insurance plans that covered every hospital in the city of Chicago but the Univ. of Chicago. When she was my Dr. she was great. I now have an insurance plan that will allow me to become her patient again and I can't wait. She's a wonderful Dr. Just great.

I had my first visit with Dr. Amdur about 2 weeks ago, I took a train and then walked 2 miles to her office (after feeling I was not getting complete care from my previous primary less than 10 minutes from my home over the past 38 years). It was worth the travel...within the first few minutes, I knew this caring, intelligent, and insightful doctor had to be the best thing that ever happened to me. She was careful to get my entire background, review it before I arrived, go over it in detail, and make recommendations--including suggested visits to other doctors and recommendations of scans and tests they might do...if they did not, I should come back to her and she would order them. I am sure she sent her recommendation to them as the other doctors immediately ordered such tests. Before I could even get those tests...I came down with a 102 fever the weekend before...went to ER (a 1 hour drive from my home to be in a hospital where all the doctors practiced--instead of the other… suggestion which was to go to the hospital 7 minutes away, also, where I had been going for 38 years since my children were born). I emailed all physicians that I had recently seen...Amdur was the only one to stop in and see me at the hospital, to give me the results of my tests (a chest exray and 3 CT scans were done when I arrived in the ER...which I normally would have had 3 days later. I already had the test results from the attending physician, however, Dr. Amdur came as a visitor and wanted to make sure I knew the results and what they ment. Then she said she would hope to see me next week to check things out. Dr. Amdur's gracious visit was more than caring...

Initial visit was great but afterwards, time spent with me got shorter and shorter. No specific answers, only generalized statements like; maybe you are just one of those people who.......
