Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner, MD

I first met with Dr. Bluebond on March 10th, 2020 it was my consultation and I had to work on 2 steps before getting my ALT phalloplasty November 4th, 2022 I had my first stage of phalloplasty everything went well but the med students who are residents that work with Dr. Bluebond don't like answering questions, brush people off and want to be rude the residents / the staff member who were like this were Alexandra Lin, Jonathan Bekisz and Sarah Pitt Sarah is a Physician Assistant so I would think she would be patient and respectful but I recall her not communicating or saying anything to me when she met with me with the rest of Dr. Bluebond’s team back in November I understand people have their moments and sometimes don’t realize how they are treating others but if you are trying to pursue the medical field you need to be respectful and answer questions when patients ask you things Dr. Bluebond is wonderful I can’t complain about her, she is respectful, kind, down to earth and… is patient I had to ask Alexandra and Jonathan 3 times about things and they kept brushing me off and avoiding my questions and it really upset me it wasn’t a good experience stage 1 Overall Dr. Bluebond is a wonderful surgeon I highly recommend her, when you have questions only ask Dr. Bluebond, Andres and the nurses don’t ask the residents anything

A friend who had a fantastic result told me to go to Dr Blubond and Zao for vaginoplasty. The wait for consult was long, but it got moved up by more than a year when I sent in letters. Once I got moved up for consult, I waited about a year for my surgery. The surgery experience was could not have been better. My vagina looks and works great! Her team answered all my questions. They helped me during this stressful time to make sure everything was ready, and they were very responsive with any postop questions.

Doesn’t care about anyone but herself!! Dismissive and arrogant!! Condescending and obnoxious. Looks like her work is done with a chainsaw!!!!! SHE ALSO SEEMS VERY PROUD OF THIS. WAIT TIME FOR THE PROCEDURE IS AT LEAST TWO YEARS. THIS ALSO IS A DEEP SECRET SO ASK MANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BOOK AN APPOINTMENT!!!

What a horrible appt. my son had with this Dr. She spent less then 10 min with him, without a family member present (he's 19) regarding major surgery. Didn't even ask his father to come back to the room to speak with both of them. Took a look at him, didn't give any information about what to expect, dismissed him with "We aren't scheduling appt's for 3 years" and walked out. This was an appt that was scheduled months in advance, traveled 7 hours for with renting an airB&N and car for a 10 min turndown/kickout of the office appointment. Why were we not told upfront that we couldn't have this surgery complete for another 3 years. Why weren't we told anything before the appt. We received very little information to provide before the appt. She was supposed to let us know what process to expect, how long the wait list was, what we should be doing in the meantime and if it was even possible to have this done there, recovery time. In turn we received a $900 bill for a 10 min appt. … Please take heed, make sure everyone, including the Dr. is on the same page with your appt. Especially if you are traveling any distance and putting out a lot of money for hotel stay/car rental and loss of work. I'm so thoroughly disgusted with this Dr I wouldn't come back to speak with her for any reason. As for the facility, clean, nice staff, but not very informative/helpful about the appointment itself.

Dr. Rachael Bluebond-Langner was very cold towards me and suggested I try physical therapy to deal with the blocked colon canal that's spilling out of my genital area. Basically told me to give up on the idea of ever being free from pain or having a sex life. I'm 23. MTFtoFtM.

Dr. Bluebond-Langner is truly beyond compare. It is evident she draws strength and support from the outstanding team she has surrounding her at the NYU Langone office of plastic surgery, but it is truly her bright personality and commitment to patient care that make her stand out. Dr. Bluebond-Langner visits frequently with her post operative patients during their hospital recovery, even coming in on her days off. She always ensures that I am heard and things are explained in a way that make sense to me. Even though she is gaining popularity at an incredible rate, I always leave our interactions feeling like I was her top priority/the only patient she has. Dr. Bluebond-Langner's advocacy for and dedication to her patients is not relegated solely to the operating room either; she frequently holds and speaks at continuing education… events surrounding transgender health care, identifying herself as a resource for our community and encouraging medical professionals to really listen to the community to identify and serve our needs. You cannot ask for a better professional nor person to have in your corner!

It legit doesn’t get better than her

I thought she was an excellent surgeon at least on paper. She offered to help me get the operation I needed. But that help never came. She just made obnoxious demands on me. I wrote her and her associate kind and nice messages but never received answers to them. Couldn't get them on the phone to talk to them personally. Finally after many months I decided to quit them because her associate was calling my private house mocking me and making discriminatory and abusive remarks. I knew when I went to meet them their manner of how the treated me and the tone of their remarks were also abusive. People do have freedom of speech but I expect better from skilled doctors. They took my kind messages and responded with lies and disrespect to me. I tried to pacify and treat them with kindness and meet their every demand, but because of some unknown disturbance they seem to exhibit, I had to found another doctor. They are history now and all I can say is I wasted a year of time with them. But… you have to experience people to know what they are really like in end, as these review can help but only through personal conduct can one ascertain if the physical is right for each individual.
