Dr. Rachel M Gianfortune, MD

Dr. Rachel Gianfortune is an excellent physician. I took my older son to see her last year, and we had a wonderful experience. She was kind, professional, thorough, and took the time to answer our questions. Because of that positive experience, I wanted her to become the pediatrician for my 11-year-old twins as well. Unfortunately, scheduling the appointments was extremely frustrating. I requested back-to-back appointments for my twins, which is something we've always been able to do with every other pediatric office we've visited, including Rady Children's specialists every year since they were born. I was told that the office has a policy that prevents back-to-back appointments for siblings. Instead, I would have to schedule one child in the morning and the other in the afternoon, or on two completely different days. I even told the scheduler that I was willing to work around their schedule and asked if they could simply find any back-to-back openings, regardless of the day or… time. The answer was still a firm "no" because of the office policy. As a parent, this was very disappointing and difficult to understand. Every pediatric office we've used has been able to accommodate back-to-back appointments for siblings, especially for routine well-child visits. Having to make two separate trips or spend an entire day at the office for twins creates an unnecessary burden for families. I completely understand that every office has policies, but this one seems unnecessarily inflexible and not very family-friendly. It was especially disappointing because I specifically chose this practice based on the outstanding care we previously received from Dr. Gianfortune. Dr. Gianfortune deserves five stars for the care she provides. My only hope is that the office reconsiders this scheduling policy—or at least allows some flexibility when appointments are available. It would make a significant difference for families with multiple children while allowing more patients to benefit from such an excellent physician.

Dr. G is a perfect pediatrician for our daughter. She has been treating our 3 yo since birth and always seems to know exactly how to calm her frantic visits to the doctor and get her to do what needs doing for the exam, even if our daughter doesn't want to. Dr. G is also frank and to-the-point about what's good, what's bad, and what could be improved upon. We can always trust her to tell us how things are without sugarcoating anything. We rely on her forthright attitude to help us best care for our daughter.
