Dr. Rachel Franck Irby, MD

Dr. Rachel Irby graduated, Cum Laude, from the University of Florida,
where she completed her major in Microbiology and Cell Science, with a
minor in Human Nutrition. She completed her medical school, Internal
Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of
South Florida College of Medicine. She holds an academic appointment as
a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of
Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Irby is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
She has served as an Emergency Department physician at James A.
Haley Veterans Hospital. She has presented at local and national infectious disease meetings original research on Hepatitis B vaccination schedule, pulmonary yeast infections, and bone marrow transplantation in patients with HIV. She was recently invited to speak at the Florida Infectious Disease Society on her Hepatitis B research. Her interests also include: antibiotic …stewardship, the genetic basis of infectious disease and infections in the immunosuppressed host. Dr. Irby is a member of several professional associations including: the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. She joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 2011.
