Dr. Rachel Kassel, MD

My wife and I have had a very nagative experience with Dr. Kassel, she is rude, not compassionate, over talks, I am very surprise d she has a career in pediatrics. Avoid her at all costs.

My child has a very complicated problem and Dr. Kassell has done her best to help us sort it out. She has always been kind, patient, and even a little funny at appropriate times. She spoke with us in terms that my child could understand and I would return to her.

Met her for first time today and hopefully the last. She made me feel like a terrible parent. Interrupted lots. The at the end of the very quick appointment she told me information that was completely contrary to another physicians analysis that preformed my child’s surgery two months ago and now i am so confused. Also at the end she said my little kiddie is cute and he seems to be fine and we don’t need further care. Which is different then what we have been going through the last 8 months. I’m so confused and wish I had not gone to this appointment. I also wish I had walked out and said you don’t get to treat people like this.

Dr. Kassel is extremely thorough and dedicated to her patients. She went above and beyond in caring for my daughter. She is responsive and available. She tells it how it is, but I appreciate the honesty. I trust Dr. Kassel completely and she is a gifted physician.

i do not recommend this GI doctor at all, if you want to get your child taken care of do your research and pass this one, She is the worst, no bedside manner and very argumentative, I just literally asked the hospital to switch my child's care to somebody else as i refuse to give this woman our hard earned money.

Rude, not friendly AT ALL!, dismissive. Always acts like explaining my child's health to my husband and I is a waste of her time. ALWAYS wait to see her 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Telehealth appointment was the same. She acted as if getting us off as quickly as possible was her MAIN focus. I thought Children's Hospital's doctors were supposed to somewhat compassionate and have a good bedside manner. Dr. Kassel is a disappointment with her person-to-person skills. Consider another doctor if being to feel respected and somewhat intelligent is important to you.

Argumentative, dismissive, combative, literally hung up on me when I asked to see a copy of a study done on my child. Pathetic excuse for a doctor.

Very rude, disrespectful, do not recommend. She will lie and report you to child services about what was agreed and spoke about during an appointment. She gets defensive and rude when you ask questions. She truly does not care about what is wrong with your child. We were sent for testing. She did not test my child for anything. She offered no resolution to any of my child’s issues. She is against breastfeeding. She believes that breastfeeding moms are not adequately feeding their children. She looks down upon baby food. She will suggest to try formula and then when she reports you will say she prescribed the formula. She completely disregards any of your concerns. She didn’t even try to look at my child. Just asked what we came for and tell you that your child’s problems are nothing and then tell you to ignore it. Please if you care about your child’s well being seek other professionals and if you can go somewhere else.

May 13th, 2019 Be very careful and seek out other GI specialists before seeing Dr. Kassel. Initially, after being completely honest with this doctor about my child, she comes across as smart and caring. Yet, to save her own face, she has no problem reporting you to social services-which in this case was for absolutely nothing (child was diagnosed with failure to thrive. Absolutely no history of neglect, abuse, alcoholism on either side of child family history). After her report, the case was closed in a matter of days and a complete waste of Child Protection Services time dealing with real abuse and neglect situations. Dr. Kassel and her team created additional turmoil and stress in our family --and in particular for her patient who she was to supposed to help—not create added stress or worry they may be removed from their parents care. Even the child was suspicious of her motives. WHAT doctor does that? Clearly, she needed to save her own face by filing a report. As the parent, I… had no worries about her ridiculous actions. Dr. Kassel does not abide to the true profession of medicine. Add to it, after seeking other care, we later found out that the regiment she suggested for my child was not even on par with what other specialists recommended for treating failure to thrive. A complete train wreck and failure on the physician's part to a wonderful child. I hope this helps others before they go down the same destructive road.
