Dr. Rachel Anne Overton, MD

I cannot believe the reviews on this website. I have been required to work with a variety of specialists in the Des Moines area, and every time I mention that I see Dr. Overton, they light up and talk about how amazing she is - and I agree! I have never had a doctor so patient, kind, thoughtful, and caring. I am so happy to have her as my primary care physician! She has helped me through so many hard times, and I always appreciate her evidence based approach to practice. I actually drive 2 hours just to continue seeing her as my PCP - she has been such a gem of a provider to my family and me. I have never even had trouble scheduling - they actually have specific days booked to take on emergencies, which has saved me more than once. Calling their office always gets me an appropriately timed appointment. Thank you Dr. Overton and team!

I have been going through some pretty serious stuff. Medical, financial, housing. All kinds of stuff. And I left Review (since removed) immediately following that review I got a letter stating they would be discontinuing care for me on a certain date. How can a doctor not do their job especially when you severe neurological, physical and cardiac symptoms all undiagnosed. I did have to cancel several appointments here and there because I was not well enough to drive and was told thats why they wont see me( stated this over the phone on the 12th (I canceled with in the allotted time most of the time.) But them got a letter on the 13th date stamped the 9th. This letter made false claims about me. They were attacking my character!... Literally in two different paragraphs I was being accused of different things and they told me we wont see but will see me but wont. I could follow the letter. I have since tried speaking with the person who wrote this letter and have not been able to. I… guess if you speak up and advocate for your health and show your dissatisfaction they are allow to terminate a relationship. I will be calling and asking for them to elaborate. I haven’t seen my actual doctor in months just dealt with some real rude, and apparently now lying nurses. The office manager and Rachel seem to have little care respect for people who are suffering and going through a hard time. They rarely give you a direct answer to your questions. You are never allowed to speak with the de directly and they do not and will not make accommodations for people of any kind.

I’ve always been impressed whenever I am being treated by Rachel but her team makes it impossible to actually schedule an appointment or get anything done there are several individuals that work in her group that are very in capable of doing their jobs. I simply try to re schedule an appointment today due to a work conflict and they couldn’t figure out what I was needing it is absolutely ridiculous if you can’t look at somebody’s chart and respond to emails appropriately and then place them on hold until you close and then hang up that is ridiculous especially considering you are going to be out of office until Monday starting tomorrow. Thats 4 days her entire team will be gone.

Both my daughter, my mother and I see Dr. Overton she’s been our doctor for over two years. We have always been able to go see her if we are not feeling well you get squeezed into her already busy schedule. She’s so caring, listens, takes the time on you to find the best solution to make you feel better. I have never had a better family doctor in all my 35 years of life. Unfortunately I’m moving to Florida in 2020 and I will surely miss her I hope that I might come to find another doctor just like her.

See someone else lot of choices. Especially do not see Dr R Overton. Indifferent care and no concern for how you are feeling or your opinions does not listen or diagnose you properly. I do not recommend at all.

This was the worst visit ever. This doctor showed no interest and was just taking notes. Didnt really say anything and wanted probably to go home. Waste of time. I wish I could undo visiting her. I got no time and my concerns were not addressed. I will not be back.
