Dr. Rachel S Rubin, MD

I am writing this only hours after my appointment while the memory is fresh, and I'm sitting in the airport ready to return home to FL, and have been super emotional at what Dr Rubin gave me today in an almost 2 hour appointment: Hope. I'm not broken. I actually BELIEVE that now, and if I get nothing else, THIS will have made it worth it. But I also know I'm getting much more. I have a plan, and a physician who not only listens but HEARS and has given me confidence that she can help me. I've worked in the healthcare field for decades, and Dr Rubin's combination of professional competence, compassion, and humor are a rare find. She recognizes that, for many, talking about sex is far from easy, and she is able to approach difficult and sensitive areas in a way that lets you know you are safe. My only regret? I didn't find her years ago. But I am so grateful I did. The financial commitment is significant, but in my mind 100% worth it, even before I've seen any results. If you can, GO!

How do I count the ways to recommend Dr. Rubin as your personal physician, and even to be the next Dr. Ruth? First, Dr. Rubin is a fantastic doctor who is helping me a lot. I had my prostate removed a year ago due to cancer, which created physical and sexual challenges. I was perfectly happy with my sex life before the operation, and Dr. Rubin has helped me get to a point where I am as happy as before, and where my partner and I have improved our communications about sex. I would encourage anyone with a prostate cancer diagnosis to consult with Dr. Rubin when they are pondering their treatment options, and to return to her afterwards for to help with the issues that are sure to follow. She has a perspective and insights about sexual issues that you will not find from your urologist, surgeon, or radiation oncologist. Second, Dr. Rubin is extremely generous with her time. For my first appointment, she spent a full hour with my wife and me, listening and focusing intently, and exploring… a full range of questions. In advance of that, she had spent ten minutes on the phone with me to make introductions and to review what we would need to cover. As I continue in her care, she also supports me via email, which is time-intensive and uncompensated. This is an incredible commitment. Third, Dr. Rubin is a gifted educator. She has spoken to my prostate cancer support group twice, delivering an inspiring array of guidance and support with humor and frankness. My wife listened in to her second meeting and wryly commented, "I wonder how many people on that Zoom call had sex that night." People who have prostate cancer need help and encouragement. Dr. Rubin helps her patients build up a diverse tool kit that they can employ to resolve and adjust to their issues. In her presentations, Dr. Rubin delivers a message of communication, exploration, and persistence - all the while having fun. This message is reinforced when you are under her direct care.

Dr Rubin actually listens, and has a strong understanding of women’s health she looks at your issues holistically and doesn’t ignore symptoms while taking the time to educate you about your own body. She’s the best doctor I’ve been to in YEARS and solved years of issues by actually looking at my whole health. Couldn’t recommend her more.

Dr. Rubin is the rare doctor who actually listens to everything you have to say and is committed to getting you completely better. I'd been through several doctors before finding Dr. Rubin. Because she was actually paying attention to me, and because she was willing to think outside the box, we finally figured out the source of my problem. I highly recommend Dr. Rubin to anyone who is not getting anywhere with their gynecologist, urologist or GP.

I left my visit with Dr Rubin wishing that ALL my female friends could go to her -- not just those dealing with pain/dysfunction. She is an excellent doctor and therapist at once, which is so rare. Like most women dealing with these issues, I have been through many doctors and many thousands of dollars over the years (including nearly $2,000 spent at DC's top specialist) and when I came to Dr Rubin finally felt like I'd found the right place. She is much more affordable and accessible than other specialists in this area (she gives you her email at your first visit for any questions you have), which reflects how passionate she is about helping women and couples rather than just treating this as a business. I can't recommend her highly enough.

I've been a patient of Dr. Rubin's for over a year now and I am so grateful to have found her! I have vestibulodynia and (finally) got an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment starting day one with her. Women's sexual dysfunction is complex and Dr. Rubin is well trained and highly experienced in this field. She doesn't just keep up with the current research, she helps do it. I feel like I got the best possible information/education and treatment by seeing Dr. Rubin. I had a successful surgery (vestibulectomy) and continue to get the help I need. One of my favorite things about Dr. Rubin is how much time she spends with me each appointment. I have time to get all the information and answers I need- it is not like a "typical" doctors appointment at all. Dr. Rubin really cares about all of her patients and I recommend her all the time to women I meet dealing with chronic pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction.
