Dr. Rachel Elizabeth Swart

I love Dr. Swart. She is authentic; does not mince words but is empathetic and compassionate. I am so grateful for everything she did, and for her expertise. Dr. Swart is also a survivor and speaks from experience. I trust her care and knowledge. If you are faced with cancer, I would strongly recommend Dr. Swart.

Although Dr. Swart is a well educated and thorough doctor, shes sometimes distracted and has exhibited an alarming lack of focus while dealing with my case. On scheduled appointments with her, she has placed my file in the wrong spot at the nurses station (resulting in a half an hour wait for an injection), caused a 30 day delay in changing medications by giving inaccurate instructions to the pharmacy and blaming the patient when the phone or scheduling system implodes. Her chair side manner has always been cold and factual and she appears to be driven by her mood on any given day. She has never been overly pleasant during appointments and has been downright condescending and rude on many visits. Advice to Dr. Swart: never talk down to any patient. Work on finding empathy and compassion for every patient.

Dr Swart does not have compassion. She is disconnected with her patients. Your best interest is not the same as hers

Dealing with cancer is scary enough but it's manageable when you have a knowledgeable oncologist who takes the time to listen to your concerns and set you at ease. She is not condescending and she's proactive. You do need to be upfront about how you feel physically and don't assume that the soreness in your knees is due to age. That's what I thought, but when I mentioned it to Dr. Swart she said it could be the medication I was on. She promptly had me stop for 2 weeks and then we tried another medicine. The pain was in fact a side affect of the medication and the new meds don't cause me pain, which was affecting my ability to exercise. Dr. Swart is a really effective doctor, she also saw my dad and referred him right away to another specialist who diagnosed was able to treat his skin cancer. She's a boss :)

Dr. Swart is the most caring professional I've ever met, and I'm 82 yrs. old. She has always given me plenty of time and is most accurate in her diagnosis. I was a patient of Dr. Katakar before he retired (since 1999), so I've had plenty of experience. I recently took a friend with me on a visit with Dr. Swart. In leaving I was told - if I ever need a cancer doctor, she's it.
