Dr. Rafael E Pinero, MD

A telling sign is the waiting room is often empty. In discussion with several of my friends, he’s getting a bad rep in the LGBT community. Directives are often ambivalent, makes referrals and prescribes medications you don’t need, leaves you waiting in patient room forever (despite aforementioned empty office) and doesn’t apologize for it. He was constantly sending me to have blood drawn. Getting some medications is often a slow and tedious process esp if they aren’t on his computer network; he’s resistant to picking up a phone and using a fax machine. He also changed a few of my prescription instructions and quantity without telling me and for no apparent reason, which left me without pills and not covered under insurance for a period of time for certain medications plus he re-prescribed pills that were already prescribed by other specialist doctors where I ended up with two versions of the same prescription getting refilled every month. Also, I received several condescending looks… from the doctor. There are other LGBT doctors in Orlando. I left and went to one of those.

I waited over a hour to see the doctor from when my appointment was scheduled. What is the point in making an appointment if you are going to be a hour late??? If I was a hour late for this appointment you would have cancelled it and charged me a fee.. This is unacceptable.

This doctor was rigid.and judgemental. I did not feel comfortable with him.

Won't take patients seriously. Doesn't deserve a medical license.

After reading m any reviews I feel this Doctor and his staff have some major issues in the practise. I am avoiding this practise. It's a shame because he is one of the only LGBT Primary Care Phys. in the area.

Please all ways ask for a recive. The people at the front they will charge you and never put that you paid on the sistem and they will Bill you double.

You just could not find a more professional and caring doctor !

Dr. Pinero has no interest in me as a patient. He doesn't listen to me and he even contradicts the diagnosis of my other doctors. Plus, I hate that he only speaks to his staff in Spanish around me so I can't know what he's saying. He and his staff all speak English but he only speaks Spanish in front of me. Rude!

I've been seeing Dr. Pinero for about half a year and I can say without any hesitation he is the best doctor I've ever had. He's kind, he knows his stuff, he spends a lot of time with his patients, and I feel so confident in all his decisions. Also his staff is by far the nicest most pleasant group of people I have ever had the privilege of meeting.
