Dr. Rahima Afghan, MD

The world will be better off when Dr. Afghan retires. I am not commenting on her personality. She might be a good person. But as a psychiatrist I believe she has done much more harm to patients than good. My father was one of her patients. She understood nothing about him and overmedicated him into a stupor.

I attended one session with Dr. Afghan and I will never return as a client because I have self respect. As patients, we all deserve to be heard, respected, and aided by the providers who serve us. I too am a healthcare provider and I have NEVER experienced a more uncaring provider than Dr. Afghan. She belittles her patients, doesn’t listen to your medical history with care and cannot repeat it with accuracy, makes assumptions to reach a diagnosis, and bypasses questions (I can only guess because she doesn’t know the answer to them or she doesn’t care). My internal warning light was going off throughout my appointment and I’m glad I care enough for myself and well-being to never see her again. I’m placing this review anonymously to let any future patients of hers to know that, you deserve better than this. Don’t settle for poor care because it’s the easiest option; keep looking until you find a provider who deserves to wear their white coat. Dr. Afghan, very unfortunately, does not live… by the Hippocratic Oath that she took when entering the field as a physician. People like her are the reason I became a doctor myself. Best of luck in your search for a capable provider.

How Dr. Afghan decided to work in this profession is beyond me. She is the rudest, actually cruel person I have yet to meet. Unfortunately, she is the only doctor that accepts my insurance. She is a hot mess. Threatens to take you off of a medication without caring of withdrawal. Simply put, she is not only a horrible doctor, but she is a horrible human being. As far as the other reviews regarding the gals working at the front desk. They are wonderful. They always followup, return phone calls, etc. Thank you Arlene & Dawn.

She was very cold, and did not listen to me when I tried to talk to her about my previously diagnosed condition and my experience with medications that I had previously been on. Seemed like she was annoyed with me when I was answering her questions. I made her aware of what my condition was but she still treated me poorly and raised her voice at me. I left feeling worse than when I walked in.

It took me 30 years to get the courage to see a paychiatrist to try to get balanced and live better. She put me on something that made me lose my memory (I couldn’t remember my own zip code). When I told her the troubles the med was causing, as well as it not helping anything,her reaponse was, “let’s wait a while longer and see if it starts helping.” Losing memory! But let’s keep taking it? I left her, weaned myself off the drug, and got the courage to see a good psychiatrist. He was appauled that I was put on this medication, even citing that it was on a more experimental level and had not been proven well to help with my imbalance. He put me on the corrext medication and it really helped. He listens and talks with me. She would just keep her face on her ipad pecking at it the whole time, cut me off whenever I’d answer or not respond at all. Horrible experience.

I highly recommend finding another doctor. This lady is the rudest human being i have met in seeking a healthcare practitioner. Very rude and does not provide the help needed to get better. The therapist there was really rude and unhelpful as well.

Very bad doctor. Irresponsible. She took me off meds and I wound up in jail. Horrible experience. She never looked at my past history and hopitalization. She then refused to see and treat me, when I went to talk to her. Reception informed me that I was not to come back there again.

Dr. Afghan was rude and cold-hearted. Sometimes you would just stare at me or shake her head. There were no people skills. She had her face in the iPod constantly! I would not suggest you go to her!!!

I had to cancel an appointment with her once because my grandson had a rash and I had to get him from school. I called the office and told them what was going on. They advise me not to bring him with me,so I had to cancel. On my new appointment Afghan yelled at me telling me all I want to do is laid around and do nothing. I told her what happened, she said she doesn’t care not her problem and if I miss another appointment she won’t see anymore. I have never had a md talk to me like that before. So I left her office crying and feeling worse then ever Can you imagine, I have severe depression and anxiety. Do not go to this munster ever!!!
