Dr. Rahul Rastogi, MD

I was recommended to see a Dr at the pain clinic for chronic back pain. The experience was unacceptable and shaming. Dr and Nurse not competent with Nerve damage from compression fractures. I needed a neurosurgeon. Dr fell very short of understanding my medical condition. I was being told manipulating muscles would greatly improve my condition. No it will not. I have three compression fractures in t8.t9.t10 old breaks that healed with ridges so constant pressure on nerves that travel from spinal cord. There is not a medical procedure yet to correct this type of injury. They cant just shave the cracks in the disks down. When a bone breaks it heals thicker. I was.also told by Dr that all medications should be.stopped immediately. 14 years of hydrocodone can't be.stopped immediately without serious risks to anyone's health and pain Management. I.walked out feeling as if I had been assaulted by a barbarian. Completely incompetent. I was insulted, hurt and truly felt violated. Medical… professionals are aware of the risks of withdrawl and no medication for pain Management. My father was a dr and this dr made me feel dirty like a drug addict. Clearly he had no understanding of the neurological damage. I walked.out. I am receiving pain Management that works and always has. Until a surgical procedure is developed we suffer. No opiates? Also when I asked repeatedly how he would make the pain stop the answers were clearly not there. I met with a Dr Brian neurological surgeon who was young and knew his job. I was told the truth. I do not recommend Dr Rastogi as a pain clinic dr. A simple look at the xrays shows the damage 14 years later. Patient's be aware. You can refuse treatment. And avoid feeling like a drug addict. I was discriminated against and felt dirty offended by Rastogi. After all it's a pain clinic and I'm being told knowing my pain level without medication is a heavy 8 and I have no quality of life. They would remove all pain Management. It was insane. The staff of doctors at university of Iowa City are wonderful. Caring and were very aware of my medical condition. They do a very thorough job. I am receiving medical care and it works. Thank You!

Dr. Rastogi has only made my problems worse. When I leave appointments with him I feel even more in dispair.

I think he's very caring and nice...WHAT I don't like is when mess. do'nt get to him.Or getting in trouble for what nurses tell ya to do.

Dr. Rastogi is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding. His clinical expertise makes one feel confident if an injection is necessary.Thank you, Dr. Rastogi, for all you do.

This doctor does not deal with all the issues that a patient is having. Just wants to stick a neddle in your back and make you suffer like a stray dog on the side of the road!! I have more than just herniated disc thats needs to be addressed and he is not doing that. Why are dr.'s soooooo scare to treat a patient that needs pain medicine? It would be nice to have a small quality of life with my children and grand children!!! I don't get why this is happening in the good ole USA!!!!! So all you drug addicts thanks for ruining my life!
