Dr. Raj N. Parekh, MD

Dr. Raj N. Parekh was drawn to the pain management field through a desire to build long-term relationships with his patients and see their progress over time.He joined the National Spine and Pain Centers Hagerstown office in August 2019 after completing his pain management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland College Park and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed his internal medicine internship at Medstar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore and anesthesiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.Over the past decade, Dr. Parekh has noticed a tremendous surge in technological advancements in the pain management field particularly in neuromodulation. “While no one specific device or technology will work for all patients, steadily growing progress allows many patients to benefit from these …technologies,” he said.Dr. Parekh’s main goal when working with patients is to tailor personalized treatment plans that are specific to their goals and needs. He listens to his patients and uses a multimodal approach for treatment that addresses the pain from various pathways.“I have the privilege of working along side patients as they move through their journey of chronic pain and ultimately obtain pain relief and improved function,” he said.In his down time, Dr. Parekh can be found taking part in recreational activities such as playing basketball and tennis.
