Dr Desai is a treasure to Maine Med with the rest of his team of great surgeons that give their all ..before him I had a lower lumbar surgery with Dr Florman best Drs best of best in Maine! Dr Florman gave me 10 more years to my trade as a Mason. Then I met Dr Desai at end of my career he found my Thoracic spine in major distress and jumped in to help me to avoid being a Paraplegic. Dr Desai is a caring Doctor with a huge heart I'm so glad I met him he put a team together to help me ! And his caring for me became personal! His team at main medical center stayed for 10 hours and did their best! I can't give stars but only hearts for the loving care I received! Thank you DR Desai my Doctor and a caring friend to your patients! Thanks Doc my friend!

Having received a cervical laminectomy and a lumbar fusion which relieved all pain, there are no words to adequately express my appreciation for the care I received from Dr Desai and his staff.

After a parachute accident, paraplegia and a year in the hospital I could walk again with crutches, but then I experienced 28 years of agony including years of sciatica and three back operations. Dr. Desai then did my fourth back operation in the Spring of 2016. He cleaned up my spinal canal plus did a spinal fusion. Since then I have had almost no back pain at all. I am now 72 and live in the Philippines with my much younger girlfriend. I still walk using one crutch. We have a Honda scooter that we ride everywhere, and I have no back pain from that either! Dr. Desai is the best surgeon that I have ever met! He gets rated six stars out of five in my opinion. W. Drinkwater

When I went for my first consultation visit, I was barely able to walk or stand up straight due to disc issues. I was scheduled for surgery approx. three weeks out, and Dr. Desai had me in and out and back home in a matter of hours. Two days later, I was in the gym working out, (which I don't recommend for the avg. person) The severe pains were gone, and the small incision was quick to heal, and very little discomfort . I was able to return to work as a truck driver in four weeks. Dr. Desai literally gave me back my life style which is very active and busy.His entire staff is excellent, and I would highly recommend Dr. Desai to anyone that is having back issues.

My daughter is now a patient of Dr. Desai's after an emergency room visit established my daughter's injury required emergency neck surgery. From the initial pre-op appt. to the day she left the hospital, Dr. Desai gave us confidence, comfort and most important he showed an amount of compassion very rare in today's medical field. His skills as a Surgeon was evident within hours of the surgery my daughter regained mobility or her previously paralized right arm. There are no words our family can say to describe how grateful we are to care he gave to our daughter. Thank you, Doctor, from the bottom of our hearts.

Dr. Desai, is a very compitent and caring physician. He is easy to talk with and he communicates with his patients on a laymans level. He is friendly and never seems to be rushed, although he must be. The patient feels as if they were the doctor's only patient. He always is very concerned, wanting to search deep for the answers. I could not feel more secure, with Dr. Desai, and his impressive staff.

He has done two spinal surgeries on me that were absolutly neccesary. I have dealt with other neurosurgeons and he is by far and away the very best I have dealt with. he is caring, understanding and will not recommend surgery unless absolutely necessary. Clearly he is one of the top people in his profession. I would highly recommend him if you have an issue.

Thorough, straightforward, caring, compassionate, honest evaluation of problem and likely prognosis. One year after extensive (6 hour) back surgery, my pain is 90 percent improved. I would recommend this surgeon highly.
