Dr. Rakeshkumar Ramanlal Patel, MD

First time visiting Dr Rakesh Patel. I went for a Annual Physical, and that is pretty much why I visit a doctor as I am healthy. Dr Patel did not do ECGG, rushed me to a Sleep Therapy for no reason and billed me $150 for a annual physical. I called and it turned out he had incorrect codes, still made me pay $30 for copay, even though annual physical is free for me under my insurance.

I liked and respected Dr. R. Patel and even trusted the diagnosis he made about my health. Since going to him, I discovered he was very thorough and he had the patients best interest at heart. When I began going to him he discovered I needed to have triple-bypass surgery, I need to start using a C-Pap machine, and he prescribed various other medications for my situation for me to continue in good health, however; when life happens and you cancel two appointments all those things I mentioned before goes out the window. After missing the second appointment I didn't receive a warning, I received a certified letter stating the reason I was cancelled because I missed two appointments. Sure I can go to another doctor, and I am looking for one now, but I wanted to say this was very unprofessional and uncaring for the patient. He didn't know what my reason was or if I was alright, I was just cancelled. And not only that his nurse is also unprofessional with the attitude. She is never in a… good mood, and she is very short with me. I put up with all of this because I thought he cared about my health.

Technically Dr. Patel is a good physician but is very difficult to talk to. Does not listen well. Butts in before I can finish my comments. Sometimes suddenly gets angry over nothing. I tolerated it for years but finally had enough. After talking to a couple of other doctors I learned that he has a reputation for this type of behavior.

Dr Patel is very thorough and takes time out to listen to all your concerns as well as address them!

My last two experience was not good. He does not have the time to discuss you diagnosis and treatment. Would state that I have 3 options but before I could choose or even ask about the options he made up his mind about my treatment. When I gave him push back the treatment option he choose for me he gets upset. He does not listen. He didn't discuss my blood work results. I'm assuming everything else is fine.
