Dr. Rakhi Shah Barkowski, MD

My wife needed a new doctor as ours no longer had a practice and Dr. Barkowski was recommended. We set up an initial appointment which the wait was three weeks. When my wife showed up for her appointment she had to wait over an hour to get in to see the doctor. Finally when the doctor came in for the initial visit she told my wife she is going on vacation the next day and she is Triple booked and only has 5 min. to talk to her. My wife made another appointment because she is on daily medications and had to have an appointment for the refills. She went to the next appointment and just happened to have another problem that needed treatment. My wife was told you are here for your medications and that is what you can talk to the doctor about. If you need to talk about something else make another appointment. So we gave her another chance and if she messed up this one it was three strikes and you are out. The third appointment went well and she spent time with my wife answering… all her questions and was friendly. The only problem is that you can never call and talk with the doctor or have her call you back you have to communicate by email only. This is a problem as the doctor doesn't always read or receive your emails and sometimes it takes up to 5-7 days for her to call in your prescriptions.

This doctor was rude and condescending to me. I literally felt pushed out of the door by her. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone. I have now found a spectacular doctor who treats me with respect and listens.

I was referred by another doctors nurse because the doctor she worked for did not take by insurance, she is the BEST doctor I have ever gone to. I would highly recommend her.

I was so disappointed in the declining quality of my previous doctor (long waits, lack of attention and no follow-through). I was referred to Dr. Barkowski and have seen her several times now. I am amazed at her knowledge, compassion, listening skills and overall approach to healthcare. My dad is a retired Dr. so I have insight into good quality care. It's hard to find someone who is a good diagnostician with good communication. Dr. B is both. I am very lucky to have found her. The office is also very well organized, professional and uses technology well.
