Dr. Ralph Otto Boyd, MD

He's old school in that he spends lots of time and asks questions.

Very knowledgable, very experienced, and most importantly very caring. Other doctors try to waist time, Dr Boyd gets results!

Dr Boyd is a very experienced MD and diagnostician although it is questionable if he should be still practicing (I suppose he is in his high seventies). As other reviewers stated, the office organization is highly unprofessional and unorganized. The long waiting times and ridiculous holding times when you try to reach the office (let alone someone qualified to give you information) by phone. But what is truly alarming is that there is absolutely no follow-up. They do not communicate lab or x-ray results even when those indicate medical problems. In fact it's truly a nightmare to chase lab/x-ray result information from this office. Last time I called they could not even find my most recent patient records. At times when I tried phoning, they just kept putting me on hold and then kicked me off the phone line. At this point, I seriously just hope I can get them to find my visit records and test results and provide me with copies so that I can transfer this information to a new… doctor.

I chose Doctor Boyd as my Primary Care Physician without doing any research on him. That was a big mistake. The very first time I made an appointment, I waited OVER TWO HOURS in his loud and charmless waiting room. I finally ended up storming out after my blood pressure went skyrocketing from anger at being treated so badly on my first visit. Why I went back again for a second "visit" I'll never know. I guess I figured it was just a one time issue. When I finally got around to seeing Doctor Boyd in person, I was immediately put off by his supremely disinterested and distracted manner. I felt like he was barely paying even the slightest bit of attention to me! He just didn't seem to care. He appeared tired, overworked, stressed and almost sad. Heck, he even looked unhealthy! I swear, it looked liked HE needed to see a doctor! Basically, he looked even older than his already advanced 77 years. He barely listened to what I told him I was there for. He probably spend less… than 10 minutes with me. I went back a few more times, for minor rashes and ear issues. Each time left me feeling like I'd made a major mistake choosing him at random. Finally, I decided that enough was enough and changed my PCP to another doctor in my health network. This time I researched him very carefully and checked several other doctors as well to make a much more informed decision. I made an appointment today and I think it's going to work out much better. Doctor Boyd may have been a fine doctor at one point, say... 40 years ago. But today he seems utterly burned out and defeated. He seemed to me like a guy who should have retired a long time ago. He gave me the impression of someone who's just going through the motions, who's seen way too many patients over way too many years. Find yourself a different doctor. Boyd just isn't worth your time. My lowest recommendation.

The staff at the Glendale office are very unprofessional. The wait to see Dr. Boyd was longer than an hour. The staff and nurse assistant do not seem to care much about this problem. Dr. Boyd overall is a good doctor. The staff and wait time is the major problem at this facility in Glendale.
