Dr. Ciccone is the best of the best. He is the most caring doctor I've ever met.

I was referred to Dr Ciccone for fatigue, shortness of breath and cough. I was given a spirometer test which I was told was within normal range. After inhaling albuterol, the test was repeated and I did better. (A nurse friend later pointed out that anyone would do better after inhaling albuterol.) I was also given a sleep monitor test. I was diagnosed with mild asthma and sleep apnea. Dr. Ciccone, whom my husband and I found to be quite flip, wouldn't prescribe a mouthguard, he said it wouldn't work for me, and would only prescribe a CPAP machine for the apnea. When my husband mentioned to Dr. Ciccone that not only wasn't I sleeping with the Cpap, I couldn't talk with it on. Dr. Ciccone's response was "that's a good thing, isn't it?"! I have not had even close to a good night's sleep on the CPAP. For my mild asthma he prescribed BREO which I now have stopped taking. I saw an ad for it in a magazine and read the one page disclaimer in the mag rather than the multi page small print one… that came with the medicine. It said at the top that it was only to be used "for adults whose asthma is not controlled on a long term asthma control medicine like an inhaled cortico steroid"! And the first disclaimer said that people taking this medicine have an increased risk of death from asthma! I’ve developed many of BREO's side effects: increased blood pressure, hand tremors, higher sugar, hoarseness and voice changes, constant cough! Don’t know about other side effects like weakened immune system, osteoporosis, glaucoma and cataracts! I emailed Dr. Ciccone on the portal over a month ago, but haven't had a response. I've stopped the BREO and replaced the Cpap with a mouthguard. I am now sleeping through the night without incident and am no longer fatigued absolutely no thanks to Dr. Ciccone.

Dr Ciccone is a wponderfull docter he always makes me feel that i am the most important person nomatter how busy he is. And for years my phonecalls have always been answered and i know that he has made my life better. Since i have been seeing dr ciccone my breathing has been under control and that has been over ten years now. and i owe that all to him. Best docter on staten island.

He complains about his staff in front of patients and used curse words numerous times during the consultation. It is his way of trying to make the patient feel comfortable. Comes off extremely unprofessional and unsophisticated.

The staff is utterly incompetent. They contacted my mother to confirm my sleep study appointment, instead of speaking to me (their 24 yr old patient) directly. Naturally, my mother was confused and told them to contact me, which they never did. When I arrived, I was told they had cancelled my appointment without telling me, and had already filled my spot. This was an egregious violation of my privacy and a big inconvenience. I never gave authorization for my family members to be contacted; my mother just happened to also be their patient. Dr. Ciccone himself made me feel very uncomfortable during my visit. He lifted my t-shirt up to my chin in order to use the stethoscope on my back; no doctor ever did this to me before. He also based his diagnosis of sleep apnea on the fact that I have "big tonsils." He told me surgical treatment would involve breaking my jaw and moving it forward, as well as shaving my tongue and removing my tonsils. I get the impression they are money hungry.

Dr. Ciccone has put my fears to rest. On days that I have felt sick, he has actually waited in the office for me to come in and have a visit. His bedisde manner is adorable as he is. Having lung problems - I get nervous. He has a wonderful way of calming me down and making me feel better. He is professional and brilliant, yet he adds a humorous touch - and we adore him! I have sent many patients to him. I have never walked out of Dr. Ciccone's office not better. He is caring. His bedside manner is calming. I would never dream of seeing another pulmonary doc. I actually had one in NYC for many years - and in no way, shape or form was he as thorough as Dr. Ciccone. He may be in Staten Island, but Dr. C. definitely rates as a Park Avenue doctor. Love you !!! & thank you....!!! and might i add, there have been times when Dr. C has seen me immediately when i've had labored breathing.
