Dr. Ralph P Ergas, DDS

My daughter just turned two when I was referred to him by suncook family dentistry. They assured me this dentist had years of additional schooling to work with children. It should have been a red flag when desk staff told me not to worry if my child cried ... we should have walked out then. She is a brave girl and I wanted to trust them, but as the dentist wedged his finger behind her molars to open her jaw (like an animal) and used the other hand to hold her head still she became hysterical. Ergas asked me about 20 questions as he did this and I tried to answer and process what was happening all at once. I wish I stopped him. I thought Is this what they are trained to do at a toddlers first dental exam?? Her gums bled from the tools poked around. After it was over and trying to process what just happened I notice a red bruise on her head where Ralph P. Ergas had held her head firmly. I wish I interviened sooner.

I should've left this review 5 YEARS ago and I'm horrified to see Dr. Ralph Ergas is still in practice. Wish I could leave less than one star!! Looking at recent reviews I can see there's been no change to this man or the staff he works with so I don't feel bad finding every possible way to review him or his work places and make sure nobody has to go through what we did. I'll never forget the name because I'll never forget the cries, the pain, the torture, the ptsd following one single appt here. Forced my child in alone without me, did work the same day without speaking to me, strapped my scared 3yo down and gave him medicine (our bill showed codeine) in order to keep him calm for the novacaine shots WITHOUT my consent or knowledge, told me the appt was taking longer because he was a new patient and that he was so comfortable that he had fallen asleep. When he finally came out he was mortified, delusional, had to be carried out crying and scared with a mouth full of gauze. When… confronted by proof on our bill to insurance and what my 3yo had told me they denied it and said my son was a liar and scared for no reason. LIES, DECIEPT, LIES AND MORE DECIEPT!! This man and his employees have no morals and should not be working with ANYONE, let alone children. If you even have a speck of love/respect for your children, their health or just their general wellbeing at all do them a favor and RUNNNNN!

I have been going to Dr. Ergas since I was 2 and I am now 21. He has always been friendly to me and has taken care of any problems I've had with my teeth efficiently and effectively. In my 19 years of going here, I don't remember one bad experience. The office has a fun theme and is great for kids!

Terrible bed side manner. My 3 year old had never been to the dentist before she was soooo excited. Jumped in the chair and had her teeth cleaned no problem. As soon as dr Ergas came in it went down hill he was forceful pinned her down made her choke and cry. I asked several times for him to stop and he became more forceful. I eventual ripped her from the chair. No way for a first visit to go. My daughter was crying and sobbing uncontrollably. Left before he could look at my son who is one and also was there for his first visit. Will not go back.

Dr. Ergas and staff are great! no problems.

1 Visit to this dentist was more than enough. The receptionist wasn t friendly at all when I arrived in their office but I overlooked it as she s not the one working on my daughter s teeth. My daughter is only 2 years old and this was her 2nd dentist visit and we were referred by another dentist. She has asthma and nebulizer use caused some issues with her front teeth. (Helpful hint that my doctor never told me, rinse a child s mouth out after using a nebulizer!) I brush my child s teeth daily and limit snacks and juices with sugar but he proceeded to speak to me as if her dental issues were my fault. I have 4 children who all have the same diet and habits 3 of them have perfect teeth, my youngest is the only one on breathing treatments. No matter what even if issues are related to a parent not knowing certain foods cause tooth decay I feel the dentist should educate, not beat up a parent who may not know all of the information. Most pediatric dentists I have seen talk to the child… to make them feel at ease and show them the tools and such but not this one! This big man she s never seen before just starts poking around in her mouth and she was scared. He then told me the 4 teeth could not be saved which was really upsetting to me but he had no bedside manner whatsoever. Just they can t be saved period. I had a lot of questions after the exam and they didn t seem to want to take the time to talk with me about them. They just gave me the cost of the procedure and said she would need codeine prior and showed me what looks like a toddler straight jacket that she would be placed in on the day of the procedure. Overall he was very cold, impatient, and uncaring. The following day I called my regular dentist and got a referral to another dentist. When I called Dr Posada s office the receptionist s friendly tone put me immediately at ease and she told me that there are options and after the consult we could choose together a treatment plan. Needless to say Dr. Ergas won t come anywhere near my child s mouth again! A parent needs to feel comfortable with any provider that will be working on their child, don t ever go along with something that makes you feel uneasy get a second opinion and a dentist that won t scar your child for life.

Awful Dr. Do NOT take your child to him. He has a terrible bedside manner and is short tempered. MY son is still dealing with a fear of Dentists because of the ONE visit we went to see him. I regret ever taking him there and wish I could undo the past. STAY AWAY!!!
