Dr. Ralph Leon Greene Jr, MD

I had to see Dr. Greene when my usual doctor was not available. I was having urinary urgency and burning, also vaginal irritation. I made this very clear. He did a dipstick urine test (no culture though), and the test came back negative. He tapped and pressed on my lower abdomen, I did not have any pain. This took about 2 minutes. He then decided, without a pelvic exam (didn't even bother to look or even ask that I put on a gown), that I had Interstitial Cystitis and gave me a prescription for Detrol LA (an expensive medication with no generic). I specifically asked if there was anything I could do to immediately relieve the burning and frequency (I'd been having it for a month), his response was, "Well, [my name], you waited, so, this is going to take time." Umm, what?! So, somehow this was my fault, for not coming in sooner? He told me to make a follow up appointment with my normal doctor in a month to see if the Detrol LA was working, then he just walked out of the room. I was… nearly in tears I was so upset and angry.I immediately made an appointment with my regular doctor for 2 days later. Within the hour my regular doctor, upon a pelvic exam, swab, and stat pelvic ultrasound, had me diagnosed with urethritis caused by bacterial vaginosis. By the second day of antibiotics I had symptom improvement, and was completely better in 2 weeks.Dr. Greene and my doctor work at the same practice, but not all doctors are created equal. I had a painful reminder of this when I was forced to see Dr. Greene. Good thing I wasn't dumb enough to settle for such poor care. I would never recommend this doctor.
