Dr. Ramachandra G. Naik, MD, DM, DNB, is a US board-certified endocrinologist and physician-scientist with more than three decades of global experience across patient care, clinical research, and biopharmaceutical drug development. He practices at Well by Messer in their Upper East Side Office in New York, NY. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health. His scientific career began with a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he trained under Dr. Jerry Palmer and studied the underlying pathophysiology of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) - work that helped define LADA as a distinct clinical entity and continues to shape his approach to diagnosis and treatment today. Dr. Naik has published in the area of autoimmune diabetes and has authored chapters in international textbooks on diabetes (including "Ellenberg & Rifkin's Diabetes Mellitus," 6th ed., and "Therapy for Diabetes Mellitus and Related Disorders," 5th ed., American Diabetes Association).

He has held senior academic leadership roles advancing clinical and translational research, including Assistant Dean and Director of Translational and Clinical Research Programs at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Director of Diabetes Clinical Innovation at the University of Washington Medicine Diabetes Institute, and Director of Diabetes Clinical Research at NYU Langone Health. He has served, over the last several years, as a principal investigator on multiple phase 1 through phase 3 studies in type 1 diabetes (diabetes/technology intersection and immune-intervention strategies), novel insulin therapies, incretin-based therapies, and lipid disorders (hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia).

Dr. Naik has also spent 8 years of his career in the biopharmaceutical industry (Novartis, Merck, and Johnson & Johnson) in roles of progressively increasing responsibility, providing clinical leadership in global drug and device development programs. He currently serves as a Senior Medical Director, Clinical Sciences, Global Development at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., working on multiple early development programs, including first-in-human studies in the cardiometabolic/obesity space.

Dr. Naik has been an active member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Endocrine Society. He has served on the Research Grant Review Committee of the ADA. He was a recipient of the 2014 Global Corporate Award in "Healthcare and Global Impact". He has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Endocrinology in New York for 2024, 2025, and 2026.
