This surgeon pierced the intestines so many times that the patient's intestine walls were burned. During the (4) month stay of the patient, Dr Ramcharan Thiagarajan encouraged the patient to eat and inserting a feeding tube despite an intestinal resectioning and all of the multiple intestinal piercings. Reconsider surgery at the hands of this doctor! We came very close ever so close to losing him. I believe it was divine intervention that got him through (6) months period under the horrific care of Dr. Ramcharan Thiagarajan. The experience was an ongoing fatality threat! It took an additional (5) months of a competent surgeon and staff to stabalize and improve.

Ramacharan Thiagarajan: 1st he cut out so many tumors in such a manner that the small and large intestines were leaking like a sieve! He sent the patient home telling him he could eat anything he wanted after not only all the cuts but an intestinal re-sectioning...(who does that). Of course that resulted in an emergency with fecal matter coming out in all places: Anastomotic Leak. After many attempts at reaching him with no return call the ambulance generously took the patient from Folsum back to Kenner to make certain to receive care from the initial surgeon. While cleaning all of the poop (sorry but true) the nurse commented on the smell of c-diff and instead of running a culture to determine whether the patient had "c-diff", he took a blood test that we later discovered was not definitive. C-diff is contagious and we put a lot of family visitors at risk during the (2) months of emergency care to undo this butchering job he had done. Initially he delayed going into surgery… until later in the evening. When the surgery was complete, he came in to tell the family (I am family) that he did not understand why the organs would not stick together. Later we realized that the condition of the intestines had been burned from the fecal matter sitting and waiting for him to clean him out. Although he added interveineous feeding, he also added a direct feed line to the stomach and told the patient he could eat. This doctor had to add drainage tubes to continue to drain the food that he encouraged the patient to eat! It was an absolute nightmare! Run as far away as you can from this situation! No apologies, conversations between patients and not knowing what to do. Small wonder why the Ochsner has ratings for all the doctors but not for him. It was our experience that this man is dangerous and it turned out that a distance acquaintance had gone in for a simple surgery and almost died. Life is short enough. Please be careful and do your research before allowing this man to touch you. We ended up with a different surgeon who immediately took all the food away and fed exclusively through the veins. The recovery is remarkable but unfortunately, this is (3) months later and the patient had gone from 180+ pounds to 120 pounds under the care of the first sugeon! This should have been done immediately. Too many bad decisions. It's now an obligation to let it be known.

Saint Luke’s Hospital in Houston couldn’t find out what my problem was and I was near death. Dr. Ramcharan in Kinner saved my life. I will forever be indebted to Dr. Ramcharan.

Dr Thiagaran has perhaps not disclosed that his registration to practice was cancelled for professional misconduct by Medical Council of India for transplanting pancreas in a hospital which was not authorised to perform pancreatic transplant and without the informed consent of my wife Seema Rai. The botched up surgery led to the untimely death of Seema on 06 May 2010. Therefore, be careful please.

There are no words, what can a person say to someone who saves your life. He's just the best.
