I have been seeing Dr. Thapar for nearly two years - since I have started seeing him my condition has rapidly worsened. Every time I come in he asks ME what I think we should do(in terms of changing medication). How am I supposed to know what to do? I am a patient coming to you for help! Aren't you supposed to have the expertise? Also, during every visit with him, he is just typing on the computer, and doesn't seem to make any effort to listen closely. Sometimes, he will look up and try to clarify something I just said - but I usually have to correct him because he did not hear me correctly. Recently I told him how difficult it's been recently extremely difficult for me to get out of bed, and as a result I'm in bed most days til the afternoon, to which he replies, "It's hard for everyone. You just have to do it." Ya think?!?! If it really was that simple, I would not be here in your office! People come to doctors when they have a problem and cannot help themselves! He seems to think I… am just coming in for kicks and giggles. He does not take his patients seriously, in my experience. Additionally, his receptionists at the Gaithersburg location are THE WORST when it comes to billing. We will not get a bill from him for several months at a time, and then they will demand payment from us all at once (1000s of dollars) which we are in NO financial situation to do. If they sent us a bill every month, consistently, then they would be getting paid consistently every month. We would be more than happy to pay it if only they would send it to us regularly, but they do not. When I tried to bring this to Dr. Thapar's attention, all he did was cut me off and say "Don't worry about it. Don't worry." Again, he is NOT a doctor who LISTENS! The ONLY good thing about this practice is that he does the bare minimum of his job. He gives me a prescription that allows me to function in life- if only that. I wish I could just get better. I know it's not that simple, but I believe Dr. Thapar has been hindering my ability to thrive and truly get better. I have cried in the parking lot countless times after appointments because I felt so invisible and so helpless. I will no longer be seeing him as soon as I find another Psychiatrist.

Dr. Thapar is the contract psychiatrist at Arden Courts of Silver Spring, a memory care assisted living facility. As my husband's psychiatrist, he barely visited, seldom returned my phone calls, and refused to engage in adjusting my husband's medications for Alzheimer's. The consequence of his poor care and incompetence was that my husband, a sick and fragile patient, was expelled from Arden Courts (the executive director calls it "sent out for medication management") and spent four weeks in two hospitals. At the end of this time my husband was severely diminished and traumatized, never to recover. Dr. Thapar should be avoided at all costs.

Dr. Ramesh Thapar is the best doctor I have ever seen. He RESPECTS his staff very good and gives me the write medication i need!

Dr. Thapar is an excellent psychiatrist. He spends as much time with me as I want. His diagnosis and treatment is excellent. He was able to find just the right mixture of meds that have really worked for me. His wait time is few minutes. His office staff is great.

Doesn't keep record of meds prescribed to me. Doesn't explain meds. He doesn't CARE!
