Dr. Ramon Paulo Kare, MD

Dr. Kare clearly cares more about his bottom line than the health and wellbeing of his patients. I have been on the same migraine medication for 20 years. Every Doctor who has ever prescribed it for me has given be a scrip with a year’s worth of refills. The policy in this clinic is to send a scrip with zero refills so that they can refuse to continue giving refills after 6 months. The first time I noticed they had done this, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, went in and spoke to a prescriber about it. I was told I would get a prescription with a year’s worth of refills. When they called to demand that I pay for another appointment after only 6 months and one refill of my medication, I was told they would not honor their employee’s word. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, I was handed off to the office manager who has no medical training. I asked to speak to a medical professional and was told that would require me to pay for an office visit. I asked to speak to Dr… Kare directly and was told that the office manager would send an email to him and he would call me if he decided that he wanted to but that he was not likely to respond to me. She also refused to show me any proof that any correspondence was sent to him at all. The office manager told me, Dr Kare doesn’t maintain a schedule with available appointments and makes himself unavailable to his patients. She told me that he was unlikely to respond to me in any way. Additionally, working here must be difficult because they have much higher turnover than I’ve ever seen at a Doctor’s office. They only have 2 prescribers on staff at any time but they have had 2 leave in the 18 months I was a patient here.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SCHEDULE WITH THIS PLACE. THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY AND ARROGANT. PERIOD. I had some questions about the appointment process. I didnt understand why they wanted to schedule so many appointments before actually seeing me. I had questions in general. I called all week. If Im running a practice, Im going to call and talk to my patients/ potential patients and address any concern they have. I was scheduled to have a virtual visit today at 11. But because I had questions about their process and reviews I had read, they canceled my appointment and told me they didnt think they were a right fit for my care. Not once did anybody call me back, let me know anything, etc. They just absolutely refused to talk to me because I had questions. What kind of place is this? Now let me be clear, I absolutely dodged a bullet. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. This review is 100% true, no exaggeration, no add ons. This place wants you to do unnecessary virtual and in person appointments… so they can keep charging. I would not be surprised if they are hurting for money. That is absolutely their fault. During these times we are all having at the moment, you have forgotten who you serve. The people.

Dr. Kare seems to create as many unnecessary appointments and therefore copays and charges to insurance as possible. Requiring SIX APPOINTMENTS IN 2 ½ MONTHS (attempting to get 2 more)….and all I needed was an appointment to get established as a patient. And another appointment for anxiety medication after a double tragedy. I voiced my concerns about the unusual number of appointments, explaining that I would need to look for another doctor because I can’t sustain this many appointments. He then sent me a CERTIFIED LETTER SAYING HE WOULD, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, NO LONGER TREAT ME. If you are looking for a doctor who works together with his patients and values the patient’s input, preferences, autonomy, and treats you as a competent adult with valid and logical concerns, and is reasonable, this is likely NOT the right doctor for you. I felt that his treatment was very one sided, it is his way or no way at all. Dr. Kare’s #1 priority is billing my insurance as many times as… possible. And apparently, after reading other reviews, he is trigger happy on "firing" patients. ……................................ Examples: He had me schedule a new appointment and pay another copay in order to hear that my bloodwork from my prior appointment was fine. And required two additional appointments for me to say “yes, doing fine on my new medication”. Would not accept a phone call to let him know. Or my word, that I’d call if any issues arise. Also, when I wanted to taper off a medication, he withdrew his help when I explained I’d need to taper more slowly because my body is sensitive to this, causing horrible withdrawal symptoms & permanent damage. He immediately basically said, never mind and chose not to give me the prescription he was going to give me to help me sleep while tapering off. I felt treated like a drug seeker and dismissed.

This office treats patients like cattle... herd them in and herd them out. They over schedule patients to ensure they see as many as they can daily which consistently causes the wait time to be ridiculous - well over an hour every single visit. Dr. Kare himself is a wonderful person with great bed-side manner but he is always in a rush to see the next patient. The office staff are rude and completely unprofessional. Save yourself the time and hassle by visiting a different office.

Long wait, over medicates, phoney protocols, brings personal business and arrogance to work with him.

Dr. Kare has a big ego in my opinion. He talks a lot and listens very little. You know how you feel and what your body is doing but he does not listen to that and instead talks over and down to you like you don't know what you are talking about. He pushed his menopause test and hormone cream on me as well and maybe treated me the way he did because I refused to pay for it since my insurance would not cover it. I cant tell you how many times I have tried calling his office and can NEVER get a live person. It is always voicemail and the calls are not returned. I will NOT be seeing him anymore. I have since found a Dr. with a great bedside manner and a compassionate heart. I no longer leave the Dr's office feeling like a scolded child nor do I have issues reaching my new Dr's office or making appointments.

My entire family is seen by dr. kare for many years. He listens to you and really cares. he's not by most Dr.'s as in trying to get as many in and out as fast as possible. Truely a "one of a kind" dr.
