He seems annoyed that I am assertive in being my own advocate and I am well informed and proactive about my prenatal health. I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy, so i began monitoring my glucose as soon as i got a positive test. I failed the 50g 1hr test at 12 wks, but dropped to borderline hypoglycemia level within another hour and had a migraine all day. I refused to take the 3 hr so early in the pregnancy and his nurse was quite rude when i gave her my reasons, like multiple daily hypoglycemic episodes while eating axial food instead of a 50 g dense glucose load. He called me and sounded supportive of my decisions based on my nutritional awareness and told me to just let him know if i had any abnormal readings and it wasn't necessary to bring written logs or send them in weekly. At 17 weeks he lectured me for only having electronic logs and told me i needed to bring it in written form on their paper or i would be forced to do the 3 hr test next time. When i… recalled our phone conversation, he brushed it off and hurried out and just said to call in my numbers weekly and bring it in writing next appointment. The practice failed to give me a cost breakdown at the first 2 appontments, and i have to pay off my child in full by 28 weeks gestation, so i now only have 3 payments to accomplish this instead of 5, which makes a sizable difference in payments, to which his staff member basically said "not my fault, your problem, not mine." He failed to get my records from my former doc and delivery facility in austin because his staff sent the request incorrectly, yet somehow i got lectured about it. He was less than thrilled when i told him i wanted to try a vbac and that my ob in austin said i was a great candidate for it, saying he would be the judge of that and to not get my hopes up until he reviews my records. If i didn't have to see him due to my high risk classification, i would change docs in a heartbeat. Maybe i was spoiled on patient-centered compassionate care from my first pregnancy in austin and i should expect far less from West texas?
