Meet Dr. Malan
Dr. Malan is a Board Certified orthodontist who has been in practice since 1990. The Malan family of dentists has been providing dental services in the Fresno area for over 60 years now. Dr. Malan’s father and grandfather had family dental practices for many years prior to Dr. Malan establishing his orthodontic practice. He continues in their tradition providing the highest quality of dental care here in the Valley.
Raised in Fresno, Dr. Malan attended local schools and completed his undergraduate college at Fresno State University earning several scholarships for dental school. After finishing at Fresno State, he moved to Los Angeles, to attend the highly acclaimed UCLA School of Dentistry for four years. While at UCLA, Dr. Malan did some of the early research on dental implants showing their usefulness as orthodontic anchors to move teeth. Dr. Malan was recognized as one of the top graduates in his class while scoring in the top 5% on National Dental Boards testing. …Dr. Malan then went on to the University of Louisville for an additional 2 years to complete an orthodontic specialty residency while earning a Master’s Degree in oral biology with a 4.0 GPA.
Dr. Malan has memberships in many professional associations including:
American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Fresno-Madera Dental Society
American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Association of Orthodontists, California Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Malan continues his education attending many meetings and seminars to enable him to incorporate all the newest orthodontic techniques and materials for his patients. He utilizes the latest technological advances in the industry such as Invisalign, clear ceramic braces, new "frictionless" braces, low-force memory wires, computerized 3D simulations, non-surgical jaw orthopedic correction, along with the latest computer technology to ensure that his patients receive the most effective and efficient care possible.
Dr. Malan has been married for over 25 years and is the father of four children, all who attend or graduated from the Clovis school district. Spending time with his family is his favorite hobby. In addition, he enjoys all outdoor activities including golf, tennis, hiking, skiing, boating, and trail bike riding.
