Dr. Randolph Yoon Chang, MD

I would have an appointment scheduled several different times with my normal Doctor. Unfortunately, there were several times where my Doctor ended up not being available. Instead of Apac rescheduling, they just switched my appointment to be with Dr. Chang. He decided to change my plan of care and somehow became my Dr with future Appointments. I have never met a doctor more condescending and arrogant. Apac was such a great facility until Dr Chang took over. I left my appointment not only still in pain, but also in tears because he made me feel like I was a terrible person. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. Chronic pain is hard enough to deal with and your Doctor should be helping, not making things worse. If you are just looking to get injections- then he’s your guy! Do not go there. Worst Doctor ever!!!

I have never met a more callous and rude doctor ever!!! After 3 other doctors at APAC he is the worst. Had been going to APAC for almost four years. Not my fault they changed my doctor FOUR times.

2 sets of test shots before a spinal ablasion charged $18.000 and $4989.00 Dr came in with 3 interns and I asked him about the bills he said he had no idea what they charged. Refused to sign a form for a handicap placard he said if I can go on vacation I do not need a handicap placard and refused to sign even though he didn't have my medical history Also said my urine test was positive for cocain meth and marijuana Although I have never used drugs in my life .I demanded a test wright then after I took it, the nurse came in my room and said there was a glitch at the lab that day .I asked her for a copy and turns out the Dr couldn't read it properly and I was clean I demanded an apology but the dr never returned to my room. This Dr sucks an I would not recommend him to anyone

the treatment was mediocre so i went elsewhere, now i need medical records for ss disability they needed them in ten days it is now 3 weeks i will possibly lose my ss benefits---thanx

I lost my employer provided healthcare last year and needed to find a new pain Dr. as my new health insurance was not taken by my pain Dr. of 10 years (even though the BCBS website said they did....Whole other story). I went to Dr. Chang only because he was the only pain doc I could find close to me. I have had severe endometriosis for the past 10 years, I have been taking tramadol to control the pain and make the bad days tolerable for the past 8. I had also been experiencing almost debilitating stiffness in my fingers and toes for the prior 3 month, I'm pretty stoic so I ignored it and thought it would go away until it had gotten so bad that I couldn't ignore it anymore and was becoming pretty concerned. At my 1st and only visit with Dr. Chang, once I mentioned tramadol I was treated like I was a drug addict looking for drugs, in spite of the fact that I had been treated for a proven, known pain issue by a Dr. that Dr. Chang knew at Skokie Northshore Pain Center for 10 years. I told… him about the pain I'd been having in my fingers and toes and was told, in an incredibly condescending manner that "Sometimes our hands hurt when it's cold", no not usually in 43 year old otherwise healthy women with no history of any sort of arthritis, I knew something was wrong but after more of the same treatment, I was given 3 very expensive prescriptions, none of which was the medication I needed and had been taking responsibly and successfully for the past 8 years. I left that man's office and cried as I walked to my car because I was so upset by the way I was treated. I told my co-workers about the experience and thank God one of them referred me to her wonderful, caring Dr. because it turned out that the pain in my hands and toes was rheumatoid arthritis, an incurable autoimmune disease where your immune system decides to start attacking the lining of every joint in your body, early detection and treatment are key to minimizing and slowing down the damage. I am a textbook case of this disease, this man should have at least referred me to a rheumatologist. Had I listened to this idiot I may very well have suffered needlessly and had much more damage to my joints today. Avoid this man like the plague, he is a terrible Doctor and a deeply unpleasant man.

Needlessly brusque with terrible empathy skills. Chronic pain is where one needs a physician who can talk with you without making one feel like a fool. Chang is incapable of that. He also rushed through the exam and never conducted an examination. He was openly dismissive of my medical history - and mindblowingly mocking of how I phrased things - despite my having medical records and current doctors that corroborate it. It was apparent he had no interest in treating me despite it being his area of expertise. Lastly, a few days later I ended up being hospitalized for the chronic pain issue and was told by multiple doctors that I was correct in my original assumption, despite his making me feel like I was off base. His bedside manner is TERRIBLE.

Rushed through the exam, told me I needed an expensive name-brand medication for "nerve damage," which can't be diagnosed by a doctor running his finger up my leg. Told me my hip pain was from an inflammation in the SI joint, told me the only possible treatment was a floroscopy-guided steroid and anesthetic injection. Despite total terror at the idea of a needle anywhere near my spine and the fact that the doctor was impatient, brusque, and borderline rude, I went through with it. The injection left my right leg totally numb for 24 hours - something they didn't mention, and which I only discovered when I went face-first onto the sidewalk outside the office after my leg gave out.When the anesthetic wore off, the pain came back. I followed up with my orthopedic surgeon a week later, who confirmed what I'd suspected - I do not have an inflammation of my SI joint. I would stay far, far away from this doctor. Not only is his bedside manner terrible (seriously, how can a pain… management specialist be so clearly impatient with people in pain, and totally ignore what the patient is saying about the pain?), but I ended up with a painful, expensive, invasive procedure to shove a dose of steroids into a perfectly healthy joint.

Great doctor who really understands back pain, sciatic pain, herniated discs and degenerative disc disease. Thanks to him I can walk and excercise and do things I couldn't do for years.
