Dr. Randolph James Sealey, MD

I chose this doctor based on the reviews, but was extremely disappointed in the events that followed. To make a long story short, the doctor was caught in a lie when asked if he performed a specific surgery. First, he tells me no he hasn't performed such a surgery but then proceeded to tell me that when he has encountered the accessory muscle, that he has in fact removed it, well isn't that performing the surgery? In addition, he told me it wasn't his position to make me feel comfortable getting the surgery with him and that was on me to feel comfortable. Excuse me? You're the surgeon! It absolutely is your responsibility that your patient feels comfortable and confident in the abilities you display. I ended up getting the surgery elsewhere, with a Podiatrist who still hadn't performed this rare surgery but made me feel confident in his confidence. Also, this doctor makes you wait no less than 45 minutes for a visit each time.

Dr. Sealey performed a complicated surgery on my Achilles tendon and the results were excellent. I was in horrible pain for a long time before surgery. He treated me like a human being. I have had surgery with four doctors in this group and only Dr. Sealey and Dr. Henshaw treated me like a person. Dr. Sealey deserves 5 of these silly stars for his surgical skills. I gave him 4 because I waited 2 hours post surgery to see him in a back room while all the receptionists went to lunch. Had I been able to walk I would have taken myself to his personal secretary for help. Always speak to his personal secretary and not the receptionists at this office. Not answering the phone and rudeness is a hobby here for decades with the receptionists. Thank you Dr. Sealey for your great work ethic and your surgical excellence.

While I hate to disparage anyone and their business, I feel torn in that, not doing so, exposes people to a less than competent provider. Two years ago, my son, then 14 went to an doctor to get a section of his ingrown toenail removed. This doctor, (not Seely) looked at it, explained the choices and let my wife and son decide. They decided to do the procedure. Within 25 minutes, while still in the office, a local anesthetic was administered to his toe and the the procedure completed. Tho doctor also called in another MD colleague to teach him how to do the procedure. Today, two years later, the same issue arose on my son's other big toe on the opposite foot. Because the original Doctor joined another practice was not on our insurance any longer, we went to go see Sealey. Sealey charged us $60 bucks for the consultation and required a visit to his outpatient OPERATING facility on White St., a company in which he is part owner, and called in an anesthesiologist ($$$) to put in an… IV and administer a mild sedative. My wife asked for clarity from the staff, who were wonderful, by the way, as to why this was the case given our past experience. Sealey was late and came in a bit animated. He didn't want to take the time to properly explain the procedure and became increasing irritable because, oh dear, someone was daring to ask questions and not just do as they were told. During his diatribe he said, 3 times, if you don't want to do it, you don't have to, making sure to say it a little more loudly on the third time so his staff could hear on the other side of the curtain. On the third time, my wife responded, even more loudly, " you know what, that's the third time you suggested that, so we're leaving." He made a face and shrugged. Napoleon complex is evident and I feel especially bad for his staff who have to work with him. Sorry to say that we don't recommend this doctor.

I went to Dr. Sealey to discuss a sprained ankle and my history of reconstructive surgeries because of my clubbed feet. I was concerned about my feet being easily sprained, and what issues that might create in the future. He wouldn't let me finish my thoughts and he even told me that I had no hope of improving my strength because my condition was a neurologically deteriorating one. This is not one bit true. Dr. Sealey didn't want to answer my questions and abruptly ended the consultation before any consensus was reached. I understand how hard it must be to be a doctor in 2019. However, as with any human communication, honesty and empathy are most important. I would not recommend Dr. Sealey.

I went to see Dr Sealey for what I thought was a severely sprained ankle. He only took an x-ray the day of my injury. Three months into still having severe pain deep in the middle of my ankle, I asked him for another x ray and an MRI, to which he told me no that I’m not a candidate for surgery so there is no point, but he couldn’t explain away my severe pain other than to tell me I’m healing slower than the average person. 4th month in I again ask for MRI and he said no that maybe in another 6 weeks when I come back he will consider it. 2 months of PT that didn’t do much and he still refused to send me for an MRI when I had full insurance coverage. I immediately went and got a second opinion and that Dr immediately sent me for an MRI and x rays and it showed extensive cartilage damage and my talus bone broken in two places - and I just had ankle arthroscopy surgery last week to address the issues with the second opinion doctor. It really annoys me when doctors do not listen to their… patients. It was quite obvious I was just a number with Dr Sealey and he is a bit smug as well. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone after this experience. As a result of his laziness not taking a second x-ray a few weeks later and not sending me for an MRI, I could have had surgery much sooner. Overall very disappointed in him. I will say his assistant was awesome and very easy to get a hold of her to change appointments or email whatever paperwork you may need.

Dr. Randolph Sealey is an excellent surgeon and has very caring bed side manner.

Dr. Sealey performed a complex surgery on my Achilles' tendon. The results were excellent and I am very grateful to him. He was very patient with questions and showed appropriate concern. My only aggravation was the standard one with this office and that is the secretaries/receptionists forgetting me in a waiting room and waiting over two hours while I was forgotten. It also gets complicated if Dr. Sealey is on vacation post surgery and another orthopedist sees you. The other orthopedist caused me a lot of problems since he did not handle the problem correctly. If your surgery is something you can plan (rather than an emergency or accident) I would ask about his vacation time and plan your surgery accordingly. Best to have your follow up appointments with Dr. Sealey rather than someone who is covering for him. Overall--very nice man who is down to earth and a gifted surgeon.

only interest was to get you back to work soon as possible cheap as possible to save ins. company $ no regard for your well being told me I didn't need mri when I finally got one showed torn meniscus the dr said it was pre existing.never had knee pain before fall at work still have pain workmans comp will no longer pay for treatment.
