Dr. Rania Mary Shammas, MD

I am incredibly grateful to have found Dr. Shammas as my rheumatologist. Her compassion and care have been instrumental in helping me navigate my fairly new diagnosis. From the moment I met her, I felt at ease due to her genuine kindness and understanding. Dr. Shammas takes the time to explain everything thoroughly and ensures I am comfortable with my treatment plan. I feel genuinely cared for as a patient. I travel from Maui to see Dr. Shammas at UCLA. Three years ago, I was terribly ill and was passed around from specialist to specialist. Nobody seemed to care or listen to me. Dr. Shammas DID. She ran the proper tests and I had two diagnosis within a few days of first seeing her. I see her at least a couple of times each year, as she gives opinions on my "local rehumatologist's" care. She always responds to my questions on the patient portal- almost immediately! I've never worked with such an amazing doctor in my life. She's been helping me for three years now and has never faltered when I needed her.

I highly recommend her. She listens thoroughly and is on top of all the newest therapies. I see her for lupus.
