My procedure was for a benign condition, so understanding risks, alternatives, and expected outcomes before surgery was especially important to me. I did not feel I had a dedicated pre-operative discussion to address these concerns adequately, and many of my questions regarding the specifics and extent of the procedure remained unanswered. I was not clearly informed about the possibility of persistent pain, numbness, sensory changes, or cosmetic effects. I continue to experience daily pain and altered sensation approximately 18 months later. When I raised these concerns during follow-up visits, they were described as “not typical,” which did not reflect my experience. Overall, I found communication and follow-up guidance to be limited and unreassuring at times when I was seeking clarity about my recovery. I would encourage future patients to ask detailed questions and ensure they feel fully informed before proceeding with surgery.

Dr. Chaterji is great. She takes the time to explain procedures and results. She really listened and cared about my fears and concerns and tried to lower my anxiety. Her bedside manner is comforting. Any woman who should find themselves in her office is fortunate to have Dr. Chaterji for their care.
