Ravi Alapati, MD, FACS

Dr. Ravi Alapati is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon. He is the medical director of the Owensboro Health Surgical Weight Loss Center, established in 2018.

Dr. Alapati was instrumental in attaining the Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery accreditation for Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. In addition to being a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons, He is a member of The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

Dr. Alapati and his multidisciplinary team offer patients the most advanced, highly specialized techniques to treat obesity and its resulting co-morbid conditions. He performs laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass surgeries utilizing robotic technology. In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr. Alapati also performs a wide variety of general surgical procedures, such as hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, colonoscopies and EGDs. 

Dr. Alapati believes in teaching the next generation of medical …professionals and is actively involved with training medical students, physician assistants, as well as family medicine and surgical residents. He has trained other surgeons on the da Vinci Robot and is always eager to teach or learn new techniques

His philosophy is to treat every patient as if they are family, with the utmost respect, integrity, compassion and empathy. Outside of the operating room he enjoys reading, tennis, cycling, traveling and spending time with his wife and two sons.
