Dr. Ravi Kumar Kancha, MD

Dr. Kancha is a knowledgable physician. Unfortunately, the office operations and staff were an ongoing nightmare, and ultimately made it impossible for us to continue care. My father is fully dependent after a devastating stroke and requires extensive medical equipment, prescriptions, and insurance paperwork. While this is understandably a high-needs situation, the paperwork itself was usually incredibly simple—signatures/authorizations, and prescription approvals. What followed, however, was months of repeated failures: • Forms repeatedly “not received” after being faxed or emailed (multiple times) • Paperwork returned incomplete or unsigned • Multiple long drives to the office for the same paperwork^, then told the doctor was unexpectedly out • Being given incorrect information about when the doctor would be available • Urgent prescription refills left unapproved despite plenty of advance (repeated) notice One particularly alarming incident involved a prescription refill we… requested long before my father ran out of medication. Despite multiple calls, no approval was given. When the medication ran out on a Friday, the office offered no solution other than stating the doctor was out. We were told they would call the doctor and get back to us, but zero follow-up ever occurred. This was the second time we were left without prescription authorization and without medication, despite repeated requests from us and the pharmacy for WEEKS in advance. Whenever the doctor was out of the office—which was often—the staff provided no alternatives, no resources, and no guidance, regardless of urgency. We were repeatedly made to feel like a nuisance rather than caregivers advocating for a vulnerable patient. For clarity, this was the level of availability we experienced: the doctor only worked until 12 PM Mon–Fri, was out for six weeks that became seven, was away for a week-long conference that the office later said they had “mixed up,” and then was out again the next week. This was not occasional—it was constant. During appointments, our already brief visits were repeatedly interrupted by front office staff asking the doctor for help with simple office tasks, often requiring him to stop the visit to do their job for them. On more than one occasion, he also told us the front office staff did not come in that day. I understand healthcare offices are busy and often understaffed. Delays happen. We fully expected that. What we did not expect was this insane level of persistent disorganization, and 100% lack of accountability (or being blamed as patients for problems that were often created by the office itself). This too despite repeatedly going out of our way—to guide staff through the BASIC admin tasks required. Yet the same errors continued (at this point, honestly, where is our paycheck?). Dr. Kancha appears to be a capable physician, but the inability—or unwillingness—to manage office operations has serious consequences, especially for high-needs or disabled patients. Caregivers already carry an enormous burden. Spending countless hours calling 6x a day, resending forms, driving back and forth, and literally BEGGING constantly for bare minimum follow-through is simply not sustainable. If you are a very low-maintenance patient who rarely needs paperwork, refills, or office support, this practice may work wonderfully for you. If you are caring for someone medically complex (or even moderately complex) I cannot in good conscience recommend it. This experience was deeply discouraging and, at times, dehumanizing. No one chooses to be in this position. We came seeking care and were dismissed. Repeatedly. No matter what we did on our end, it wasn’t enough. Taken together, it felt like a practice with one foot already out the door toward retirement, while patients and caregivers were expected to absorb the consequences (and foot the bill).
