Dr. Ravishankar L Rao, MD

Very unprofessional. Saw him for surgery in the hospital and after surgery his wife (also a doctor) came into my room trying to convince me to come to her office for outpatient infusions after my surgery. She was very nice but it seemed odd that a doctor who's care I was not under would come and solicite services while I am in the hospital after surgery. When I mentioned to the staff that she had come and seen me and talked to me about my medical records and supposedly needing infusions, the staff was shocked and said Dr.Rao never should have discussed my medical conditions with his wife who was not my provider and they insinuated that it was very shady that he would tell his wife about my medical records and that she would solicite me while in the hospital- the staff told me in no way did I need "infusions" and that she should not have visited me and they implied that Dr.Rao may be committing insurance fraud by having patients erroneously receive infusions from his wife's… practice. Fast forward to follow up appointments and Dr.Rao who had been very kind and nice when we first met was completely opposite- he forget who I was and questioned if we had ever met although we met several times, he was dismissive of what I reported, wrote up what I said to him in complete opposition of what was actually said, looked at his watch the whole time acting as if I was a nuisance, ended up walking out of the room in the middle of me speaking, and then wrote up his report completely opposite of what I had told him and what other corresponding doctors had reported. He misdiagnosed me, was short and judgemental and rude, and in hindsight I should have followed the hospital staff's initial reporting to me that he was shady for sharing my personal medical records with his wife and trying to solicite fraudulent insurance money for "infusions" that the staff told me that I certainly did not need.

Sent from MacDill Air Force base to see Dr. Rao. Office was clean and neat, better than the VA for sure. Staff was kind, and Dr. Rao told it like it was and being a vet I appreciate that.

I love Dr. Rao … He saved my life! The only issues I have is when I need something signed and faxed back to a specialist it takes forever. I always seems I have to get involved to get the paperwork done.

When you call, it always goes to voicemail. Messages are not returned! Nor does the doctor follow through with prescriptions and communications with the pharmacy. Utterly disgusting! I will be changing doctors! If you value your health, don’t waste your time with this “doctor.”

Dr. Rao has treated me since I first had a stroke 4 years ago. He is an excellent physician who is clearly loved by his professional and caring staff. Whenever I have a medical problem I can always count on Dr. Rao to give me an honest and accurate diagnosis. We live in a small town so I know several of his other patients and they have all indicated to me what a great doctor he is to them. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Rao.

Dr. Rao is my family doctor. He is great. He always solves my problems. He has a beautiful receptionist, who is always nice. He is an excellent Internist.

I have seen the doctor and his nurse practitioner for over a month. I have suffered all that time. Each visit changed the diagnosis. When you see the doctor you see him for maybe 5 minutes and he is out of the room. You are left feeling like he just didn't listen. The office is very disorganized and often understaffed. Calls to either the doctor or others practicing under him do not get returned. I have often been left on hold for more than 20 minutes only to have to hang up and call them back. Appointments changed without any notice. Two locations but no ability to forward your records between locations.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Rao's. I have had to call up their offices several times to beg for my insulin refills. My pharmacy will fax over the requests, and they go ignored. They claim their fax machine does not work, yet while I am standing in Dr. Rao's office getting my next appointment date, guess what...they receive a fax! This has gone on for several years now and I am tired of trying to get my medications which I rely on to live! Do yourself a favor and don't choose this doctor. Their staff is very unfriendly, offices unclean, and they never answer the telephone. The only way you will be able to contact them is to go to their office in person and threaten to goto another doctor

Dr Rao has always treated me well and is a caring and nurturing physician. He first treated me when I was admitted to the hospital, and I chose, upon leaving, for him to continue treating my long term issues. He has always been highly professional, extremely knowledgeable and has been 100% accurate in his diagnosis.
