Dr. Ray C Abney, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Abney since 2008. He is a caring doctor and really asks the patient how their medicine is making them feel and makes sure and asks if you feel it is working. If you tell him it isn't, he works through it until he finds a successful med for you. I highly recommend him. I am fortunate that in all these years, I have not been an inpatient. I say this is because of having a good doctor. Receptionist, Darlene is a wonderful asset also.

As a physician interacting with Dr. Abney, I found him highly unprofessional.

I understand other people have trouble getting follow up appointments with Dr. Abney, because his association with the hospital requires him to mostly work with inpatients. I am a lucky one, to see him as an outpatient and I can not speak more highly of the kindness, intelligence, wisdom and caring of Dr. Abney. He really talks you through things, and actually gives you sound advice or instructions to work towards better mental health... None of that, "And how did that make you feel?" junk. He's honest, and I trust him completely.

Dr. Abney has always treated me with respect and concern. I feel that he put thought into sessions and asks probing questions. This is not someone who hands out drugs like candy. He really takes the time to make sure that you're on the optimum drugs, taking them at the right times, and not being harmed by them.I am not a big fan of going to see any doctor. But if you need a psychiatrist, Dr. Abney is someone who has been around the block.
