Dr. Raymond Anthony Bannan, MD

I had laser cateract surgery performed by Dr Bannan. He and his staff made the experience pleasant and made me and my wife feel like family. The results of the surgery were better than I thought possible. I can see without glasses and for me that is awesome after wearing very thick glasses ( coke bottle thick) all my life.

On my initial visit to the office, I made it very clear that I wanted to be able to read notes without glasses. It was a long discussion and was very important to me. I also made it clear that I did not want an intravenous catheter put into my arm. It was agreed that I could have liquid versed. The day of surgery, a nurse came in and wanted to put an IV into my arm. This was extremely disturbing to me and I was very upset. I refused and dr. Bannon came in and stated to me that his office staff had failed to relay the message. I was then given 2 small cups of versed even though I questioned the second one. I did not remember anything from 10:30 am until 5:30 PM. I told Dr. Bannon this at my next visit and he said that they had given me too much. When I tried to read the eye chart and couldn't see the words Dr. Bannon stated that he had put in a distance lens and not a lens so that I could read close up. I asked if it could be corrected and he stated that the only hope was… to see if I could tolerate mono vision. He told me to go to an eye doctor and ask for a contact lens. I told him that I did not do well with contacts but would try. I tried and my eyes were red and hurt as a result of wearing the contact lenses. I tried to contact him numerous times to tell him of the experience and ask what we could do and he never returned my call. Finally they made me an appointment and Dr. Bannon was not there and I was told to see another doctor. I explained the issue and he said that I would have to talk with Dr. Bannon. I tried to contact Dr. Bannon again and again he never returned my calls. I finally did see Dr. Happy and he didn't have any answers and again said that I would have to talk with Dr. Bannon. I never did hear back from Dr. Bannon. I then received a letter from Dr. Bannon dismissing me as a patient. I am now with the Southwestern Eye Clinic in Washington PA and they are wonderful. So much more advanced than Dr. Bannon's equipment. They were shocked to hear that Dr. Bannon did not offer to remove the wrong lens and place the lens for close up in my eye. It is now too late and the surgery to remove it would be difficult. In order now, for me to see close up, I will have to have Mono vision and have $2,500 laser surgery to enhance the incorrect lens so that I can see. NEVER, NEVER GO TO THIS DOCTOR.

Dr. Bannan has a wonderful personality and truely helps the patient be at ease.His office personel is knowledgeable and efficient. He is warm and willing to share the beautiful pictures of his precious little boy.I have many eye problems and always felt that Dr. Bannan was interest in how he could help me see better.
