Dr. Raymond Anthony Behr, MD

He has been treating a family member of mine for years. He never once recommended talk or behavioral therapy, only pills. Even for a child. He frequently overprescribed medication and unnecessary prescribed high doses of addictive medication (which he was conveniently able to remove once I complained. If there were adequate alternatives, why was he on this to begin with?). This family member has never been fully happy or engaged with life while being treated by Dr Behr. Just subdued. The medications leave him shaky and disengaged. And the one time he was hospitalized, the drs questioned Dr. Behr’s diagnosis. I wish this family member would see someone different. Don’t expect him to recommend any sound, healthful options (like being more active, eating healthy, cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation etc) ONLY prescription medication that you will likely have to take for life. I question what kickbacks he receives from prescription companies.

Totally indifferent to my sons condition.

I felt like he wasn't even listening to a single word I said. He simply starting writing scripts for meds to keep me, I guess, sedated. He seems to have a lot of experience in this area.

Dr. Behr is a wonderful psychiatrist. Anyone who has said otherwise, I question their motive. I've known Dr. Behr since 1992, so you can be assured that my review of his practice is based on not just a single visit. He has been treating a family member of mine who's case is incredibly complicated. Not only has my family members quality of life improved over the years, but also their outlook on life. This is all because of the patience and time that Dr. Behr has put in. He has always been available when we needed him, and his caring and compassion is second to none. What I've learned over the years is psychiatry takes time, depending on the type of case, and you want someone who doesn't sugarcoat a situation and is there for you, with your best interests in mind. I can safely say that Dr. Behr is a great choice and would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Behr was understanding- not to mention funny. He wanted to help me in any way possible. (and he is)

Dr Behr cared for my daughter who was diagnosed with ADHD and manic depreesion. She was a very difficult case and had been seen by several other psychiatrists who could not help her.He was caring and was always available if a crisis arose.I would recommend Dr. Behr highly

Dr Behr is a wonderful doctor, he treated my son's ADHD very effectively with a minimal use of medication. He was kind and supportive. My son felt very comfortable talking with Dr Behr and looked forward to each visit because it renewed his hope in himself and the future.
