Dr. Raymond Lebron Cooper, MD

Lebron Cooper, MD, is Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Clinical Nurse Anesthesia at the Miller School of Medicine and UM School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Miami, where he was formerly the Chief of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Perioperative Services. He currently serves as the Director of Informatics and Chief of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the University of Miami Hospital. He is a fellowship-trained cardiothoracic anesthesiologists, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, where he is co-chair of the annual Thoracic Anesthesia Symposium. As an early proponent for automated medication dispensing cabinet use in anesthesia, he formerly served on advisory panels for both Pyxis and Omnicell. He has published on medication management in the operating room and is the only author to publish a study on medication errors in anesthesia in the …United States. Dr. Cooper is chair of the public relations committee for FOCUS, a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at preventing human error in cardiac surgery.
