Dr. Raymond Hwie S Gouttama, MD

He was rude, he took a call during my first visit with him. He diagnosed me with Bipolar Disorder and prescribed an SSRI which is known to cause manic episodes in people with Bipolar. He never did an actual diagnostic test to confirm his diagnosis. I won't be returning.

Dr. Guottama is my first psychiatrist who is really trying to find what I am dealing with--with testing by a caring and knowledgeable psychologist in this practice. He is also personalizing my treatment--which is so different from the other 5 psychiatrists I have seen in the last 9.5 years. Dr. Guottama does this in a timely manner--I have found that most psychiatrists take months to see them--without the comprehensive steps that helps understand more about myself and treatment (and options). Self-advocating, especially with mental illness, and finding a doctor with this course of treatment is what I need and want. Thank you so much, Dr. Guottama, for providing me with services and the understanding behind the treatment and getting better, stronger, and more in control of myself, thoughts, and feelings.

This doctor is basically a drug pusher. You go in to see him for about three minutes, gives you a prescription and tells you to come back in a month so he can scam more money out of you. Staff is completely useless, unfriendly and will not return a phone call. The office is filthy and one of the doctors there got his license suspended for inappropriate contact with a patient. Nothing else need to say. You’ve been warned!

I concur, as well, with the bad reviews. He did not listening to anything I had to say and kept on interrupting me often. He argued with some of the things that he chose to hear and started yelling into our appt. He never asked, or even cared, about my health. He was very rude like the front desk personnel, which the personnel mainly kept talking about getting paid upfront. This bad experience was one of many since I was assigned to the doctor for help months ago. I met people in the area who knew him and said they dropped him after they first met him.

Dr. Gouttama really treats the person, and is not a drug pusher. Instead he will give you advise like do not try to change him.

This man is treating my 14 year old daughter and after 10 minutes with her that he reportedly kept cutting her off as she responded to her questions, rushed through a first time meeting and was very abrupt proceeded to prescribe multiple medications without so much as consulting/confirming his finding with her counselor of 1.5 years. When he called me to discuss his recommendations, he was also short with me and very dismissive of any questions/concerns I had. I am less than impressed with this doctor and concur with many of the reviews below that confirm similar treatment by this doctor. We will never use his services again.

This guy spent 5 minutes with me at each appointment. Worst psychiatrist I've ever seen.

I had a horrible experience with this man. He was rude, assuming, and overbearing throughout my whole phone call with him - yep, just a two minute phone call, and he couldn't have been worse. On top of that, he called me a liar, which is just something you don't do to your clients (especially when it isn't true). I would not recommend him at all, and I hope he is not in the business much longer. He sounded like a mean, jaded old man, and the fact that he didn't take any time with me to really discuss my issues just shows he cares more about his salary than his patients.

i was a patient of dr. gouttama for a long while. i really never had a problem talking to him. he did not seem judgemental or opinionated. his office to my home was not inconvenient. he tried to help me when he could. i felt bad when his office in schaumburg dropped medicaid patients. i did not miss him necessarily, but the office or the doctor did not give me pertinent information as to where i should go next. i was give the name of the kenneth copeland center which denied me bcause of the fact that i lived in dupage county. i was very depressed bcause i was dropped by him. i thought he had the right meds for me. i hope he is doing well and is happy.

During a relatives treatment at Alexian Brothers Behavorial Health Intensive outpatient clinic we received a charge of $450.00 for a consultation. Our relative went to Alexian Brothers because it was in network. Dr. Gouttama was out of network. His office would not tell us how long he met with the patient. We felt that we were strong armed into a very expensive charge without proof of service or consent to the service.
