Dr. Raymond Alan Mencini, MD

To say I was terrified is an understatement. As the tech went to get the doctor regarding concerning breast scans, I tensed my jaw, batted my eyelids as fast as I could to push the tears back and prayed for the lump in my throat to go away so we could discuss the lumps in my breasts. Just as I could hardly catch my breath, in walked Dr. Mencini, a man who will forever hold a place in my heart. He was kind, thorough, intentional and had more compassion for me than I could even muster for myself. He acted as though I was his only patient. He put me at ease as we planned the next steps, came in early to be sure I could have my biopsies sooner than later, called my family to discuss the medicine I could not explain, and then so kindly and respectfully handled every part of the process. He put me first in every single step. He made the angst bearable, he made me laugh, his kindness brought me back to tears, he put me at ease and he paid attention to all the small details that made me feel… respected - and there are many parts of breast exams that can make you feel exposed and vulnerable. Dr. Mencini made me feel safe. I knew there were no better hands I could be in. I wish there were words to honor him better than I have because he would deserve every word of those accolades. Thank you, Dr. Mencini, from the bottom of my heart. And Lucy - what a gem! She has found her calling and I hope she stays. She has a gentle way and a touch about her that perfectly fits Dr. Mencini's lead.

Dr. Mencini has a horrible bed-side manner. I went in for something very straight-forward and instead of supporting me and talking through it, he went into a full-on scare tactic and medical debate with me. Raised serious doubt where there was none and was unneeded. Basically assumed I was sick until I did enough tests to prove my health. DO NOT USE DR. MENCINI.

I had to wait more than an hour during my mammogram. After that wait he visited me for less than a minute. I'm thinking I have cancer and he talks with me for 45 seconds and seemed distracted. I was given no reason from any of the staff until I mentioned it to the girl at the desk on the way out and she told me Dr. Mencini had a meeting during my examination. Seriously?

I waited over an hour for our visit and was told Dr. Mencini was on the phone.

Had a short visit with Dr Mencini. Great bedside manner, very prompt. Made me feel like I was his only patient that day.

Dr. Mencini has an excellent bedside manner; he is a good listener, very attentive, takes the time to explain things, even 2-3 times, is understanding and consoling. He follows up promptly and has a wonderful support staff that treats you very nicely.

Dr. Mencini was charming and nice, but seemed unprepared as he was more interested in chatting with me than doing an exam and making a diagnosis.

Dr. Mencini is the most caring, knowledgeable physician I have ever known. He took time with me to review my exams, explain the procedures, and help me chart my breast cancer course. I would highly recommend him!

Dr.Mencini is the most skilled and compassionate physician I have encountered in my 59 years. He is refreshingly NOT today's norm of assembly-line care and only minutes within which to converse as to serious medical concerns. This is a doctor with a tremendous heart, an engaging manner, and the skills to match.
