I was seen at a clinic, where Dr Yen served as the new medical director, for a DOT medical examination. I’m a service connected disabled veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and I was initially refused certification because of a medication I’ve been on for 7 years. I had been certified by this same clinic for the previous 4 years, while on the same medication, but was denied by the new doctors despite no accidents or problems (I work construction and drive a regular truck with tool boxes on it. Most of my day is spent cutting concrete, not driving, but we’re union so they require us to get a DOT medical card) The regulations say that someone on the medication can only be certified if the prescribing doctor can make the case that it won’t prevent the patient from safely operating a commercial vehicle, and the certifying doctor concurs. I was going to lose everything... my job, my home, and my ability to support my family, because none of the new doctors were willing to even let me and… my doctor make my case. I personally appealed to Dr Yen and advocated my position, as did my doctor. I see the other people on here talking about his bedside manner. Yes, he’s a no-nonsense straightforward man. But he went above and beyond for me. He personally certified me and put his profession reputation on the line in order to help out a veteran. He does things by the book, but he’s also compassionate and fair.

Rude, careless and not eager to solve my issue. I echo some of these other reviews that describe him as interrogatory instead of helpful. I left frustrated and went to my primary care Doctor who was horrified with my encounter and diagnosed me easily. Never again.

Dr. Yen was my cardiologist for over 20 years . I never had any problem with him . I always feel safe in his hands . In 2015 i asked about him at West Covina office seems he's not any more with them . I checked all over cant get any information. Hd was so good . If any knows any information i appreciate it , i would like to say thanks doctor.

Into thousand and 10 I was rushed to the emergency room in San Dimas due to the fact I was having horrible chest pain I was 34 years old I had all classic heart attack symptoms. The ER doctor admitted me because I had high levels of troponin. As a result Dr. Yen was called in on a consult, and his partner came and saw me in the hospital. Had a stress testThe next day before they released me past and I was sent home. Weeks and weeks went on with me continuing to have chest pain, and I was taking 9 to 10 nitroglycerin a day to relieve the chest pain. I went to see Dr. Yen and follow up, and he threw me out of his office and told me nothing was wrong with me. I was even having chest pains in his office and was doubled over in pain and he didn't even do any KG check my blood pressure heart rate nothing. I saw G.I. doctors, I had test run, and nothing came back. I saw my dad's cardiologist as a follow up just to make sure that everything was fine and I had another heart attack four minutes… into a stress test and I was rushed to the hospital where Dr. Navare from the same group put a sentence in my left anterior descending artery and saved my life. I would never in 1 million years recommend Dr. Yen. If it weren't for my persist persistence I would've died. And my two small children would've been left without a mother. He has horrible bedside manner and I would never ever want this experience for anybody.

Dr. Yen was OUTSTANDING. His diagnosis was right on and his bedside manner was excellent. It took some time to get an appointment but it was well worth the wait. Dr. Yen suspected a blockage and performed an angiogram that turned into the placement of a stent. The procedure was painless and resulted in a dramatic reduction in my blood pressure.

Dr. Yen saved my life the night I had my heart attack. He took me right in and did emergency stent. He not only relieved my pain but explained everything to me and my wife right afterwards. My wife told me later that one of the nurses that night whispered to her that I was lucky to get Dr. Yen because he is the best. I feel very fortunate and thank him to this day for being there when I needed him. He's been great on follow up, too. He runs on time in his office schedule; I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes. His staff is very friendly.

Doctor Yen's been my cardiologist for the last 15 years. I wouldn't go to anyone else for my heart problem. I agree with the other favorable reviews here. The bad reviews must be written by disgruntled patients. Dr. Yen is highly demanding of his patients; he tells it like it is. If it weren't for him, I'd still be overweight and eating donuts and cheeseburgers. He made me realize the disease I have and plainly explained to me what would happen to me if I didn't change my lifestyle. He is not big on doing useless tests or prescribing unnecessary medications. When it comes to cardiology, he knows what he's doing, and I trust him with my life.
