Dr. Rebecca Jennifer Borders, DO

I had the worst experience with Dr. Borders and her staff. I went in for a visit because of a rash/skin condition that had persisted for about two weeks. It was very similar to a rash I had a few years back, so I was fairly certain of my diagnosis. Being no stranger to the healthcare field, I went in for an appointment to receive a prescription for a topical cream. After explaining to Rebecca my symptoms and previous history, and after spending less then 5 minutes with me, she determined they were “red bug” bites and sent me on my way. I expressed my concern to the receptionist on my way out. What should have been a simple visit turned into a nightmare. Over a week later, with my condition worsening, I sought treatment elsewhere. After being seen by another provider, they confirmed my suspicions and prescribed the appropriate treatment after a thorough exam. I returned to Dr. Borders to update them on my condition and to express my discontent with the quality of care I received. The… receptionist proceeded to ask me if I was going to sue them and then told me to “bring it” when I explained that I felt I had been misdiagnosed. All of this not only resulted in additional medical bills but also a lot of wasted time dealing with a very itchy skin condition. Since my initial visit, I have spoken to Rebecca twice now regarding the attitude and lack of professionalism which I encountered with her staff. I had hoped to resolve the situation and allow them the opportunity to correct the matter, but to no avail. After reaching out again, my conversation with Dr. Borders quickly devolved and before hanging up on me, Rebecca said, “It seems we’ve wasted enough of each other’s time.” I am so terribly disappointed in the quality of care that I did/did not receive, the lack of tact and professionalism of the staff I encountered, and the level of maturity I experienced from Dr. Borders when attempting to address these issues. I very much feel like she did not listen to me during my visit. I was very clear that I had encountered these symptoms before and that “red bugs” were highly improbable. Given the short amount of time she spent listening to me and examining me, I’m left feeling like I paid for a thorough exam/visit and received much less.

My husband became ill and we called the office of Dr.Borders located on Edisto Island, SC. Kim and Barbara were quite helpful and Dr. Borders saw us without much delay. She diagnosed the problem and we were in and out in about 45 minutes. I would highly recommend this group of professional to anyone needing medical attention on The Island.

Dr. Borders treats the person as a whole, not just the symptoms. She is the absolute best doctor I have ever known.

Organized, effective office with a compassionate staff. Despite being a newcomer, I was accommodated with fast scheduled appointments, and then plenty of time with staff and Dr. Borders. Follow up calls to me to ask about my recovery, and additional appointments quickly scheduled. I received careful, thorough, and appropriate care, and help much needed with my debilitating illness. Medication treatment was carefully targeted and effective, and I'm rapidly improving. My experience was very positive in all areas.
