Dr. Rebecca Eleanor Brickman, MD

Dr. Brickman did surgery on 4 toes that had ingrown toenails. On 3 of the toes, the toenails on the ingrown side were still growing, so I had to return and have the procedure repeated. Even after two surgeries on each toe, the toenails were not completely removed and I had pain and bumps where the toenails were still growing. The third time, I went to a different podiatrist and he did an excellent job of completely removing the inbedded nails, and he did it all in one visit (Dr. Brickman required one visit per toe, which was more expensive and time-consuming). I don't think Dr. Brickman can see very well; she complained about needing to put on her glasses and even then had difficulty. She definately does not do a good job. I would not recommend her.

Saw Dr. Brickman this morning. She gave the most cursory exam consisting of checking for pedal pulses and watching me walk. Decided my prior diagnosis of gout (not a concern for which I presented) was not accurate because I am female, and gout is more prevalent in men. Prescribed a gel for arthritis when my complaint was tendinitis in multiple tendons. After leaving her office, I researched this gel and found that it increases the likelihood of internal bleeding and other GI toxicities when combined with my other medications without increasing any benefit. Thankfully, my VA doctor wouldn't endorse the prescription because of drug interactions. She was provided a medication list. Without any testing or real exam, told me I just have to expect pain that periodically makes me unable to walk because I'm "carrying a few extra pounds." If you're overweight, don't bother. She's just another doctor that writes off your complaints because you aren't skinny.
